I watched a great Norwegian DVD yesterday

"Ørret Eldorado" means "Trout Eldorado" in Norwegian and is the very suitable title for a DVD made by Norwegian production company Scanout Multimedia.

Now, if I didn't have cabin fever already, that DVD ignited a flaming, galoping crazy trout fever in my veins! It is difficult to imagine anything more exiting and appetizing than this footage of truly wild brown trout in the 4-8 lbs. doing head-and-tail in the same spot about 30 feet in front of an angler standing in the most perfect running water in Kola in North Russia.

Whau!, whoa! and double wheee!

Unfortunately this DVD is in Norwegian only, and even though there seems to be some plans about adapting it to other languanges, Swedish seems to be the only one in the pipeline. Strange, actually, because both Swedes and Danes understand Norwegian with little difficulty. I would definitely consider English and German rather than another Scandinavian language...

Nevertheless it's a fabulous DVD with some of the most exiting fishing I have seen in a while. The DVD has a great ambience, and my friends and I truly enjoyed every minute of both the film itself and the entertaining extra material. It's up there with the Trout Bum Diaries and other current and more contemporary DVD's.

You can get a small taste - albeit not at all an impression of the quality and scope of the whole DVD - by watching the trailer on the Scanout homepage.

I would still recommend anybody into stream fishing to consider looking closer. The DVD can be ordered through an email to Scanout. It costs about 280-300 Norwegian Kroner - about 50 US$ or 37 Euros.
