2. Bonefish Bitters - The Bonefish Bitters has become a standard in and a must have pattern for just about any bonefishing destination. Originated by Craig Mathews of Blue Ribbon flies, the Bonefish Bitters, can be tied in sizes 10-6. The color of the head (the epoxyed bead chain eyes) is typically tinted. Use a tan or brown tinted fly over sand, rubble, or mud bottom. Olive is a good color for fishing over grass. Orange or Pink are great colors for attracting strikes. In this version I use clear UV Resin (Clear Cure Goo or Loon UV Fly Finish) as a substitute for 5 minute epoxy. I have had good luck tinting the head with marking pens after it has been cured with the UV lamp. The Bonefish Bitters is also great when used for Carp. It can be tied slighly larger when used for carp, where it imitates juvenille crayfish and dragonfly nymphs. For carp I like this fly in Rusty Orange, Tan, and Olive tied on a size 4 or 6. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

5. FatBoy in the Bayou - Fly Fishing for Louisiana Redfish with Saltwater Fly Workshop's Fat Boy Fly. After a months break from the water over Xmas I shot over to Louisiana's Biloxi Marsh to see who was home. Water was clear but very low and despite one good fish early on in the morning, they were absent from their regular haunts due to the lack of water. I eventually located a few fish and hooked into one at noon. It would be the first of many with an amazing few hours of clear water sight fishing for Louisiana Redfish on fly. Well over twenty fish were caught during the 2 hour session, all on a Gold Bomber FatBoy tied by Saltwater Fly Workshop Australia. After finally losing the fly due to cockiness I decided it was time to leave them biting for another day and make the run home before winter started biting again. 6. Charlie Craven's Two Bit Hooker nymph - During this fly tying tutorial, I demonstrate the procedures to tie a slight variation of Charlie Craven's "Two Bit Hooker" nymph. This heavy mayfly nymph is intended to get to the bottom of the water column quickly, being that it is tied with two tungsten beads. The fly is a simple one to tie, and I encourage all to vary the colors and size to match the natural insects in your area. In this tutorial, I used olive thread, dubbing, and hen hackle, all to match the Blue Wing Olive (BWO) nymph. A quick change of those will allow you to match the majority of other mayfly nymphs found in our streams. Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the W501BL hooks by Allen Fly Fishing. These nymph hooks are 2x heavy and 1x long, which is perfect for this fly and many other nymphs. Check out those hooks and more here: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/w501bl-wet-fly-nymph-1xl-barbless/ Thanks for viewing this fly tying tutorial for Charlie Craven's "Two Bit Hooker" nymph. 9. Hot Tail Nymph - I’ll tie an all-round river nymph this time. It’s a quick tie. The small hot spot on the tail gives this fly a special power. Sometimes you’ll want a fly that stands out just a bit. Especially in water that’s a bit murky, a hot spot on a nymph can make a big difference. Of course you can tie this fly in hundreds of color combinations. But be sure to use contrasting colors for the hot spot in the tail. Have fun with this one! - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

10. Starling Nymph - Fly tying video showing how to tie a soft hackle pattern using starling hackle. This simple nymph pattern is very effective for trout. I have also learned to use this little soft hackle fly for carp that are cruising near the surface. To a fish, a Starling Nymph just looks like a little bite of food, innocent and delicious. Capt Matt is a fly fishing guide in the Colorado Rockies during the Summer and Fall. Flies like this one prove themselves every day by getting the bite.
