2. Soft Hackle Glass Emerger - The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is a quick/ easy tie and very effective mayfly emerger pattern. I generally fish this fly within the surface film or on the swing. The iridescent glass bead gives the illusion of an air bubble of an emerging fly and the fluoro fibre wing has an excellent UV light quality. I also tie this pattern with a light cahill thread to mimic a PMD or Light Cahill, as well as an olive brown thread to mimic a Blue Winged Olive. Tie some of them up and see for yourself. The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is tied on an AFF N304 (straight-eye, 2x - short, reversed bend hook). This is my favorite hook that Allen Fly Fishing produces. It's thin wire and perfect reversed bend makes it a superior emerger hook. Check out their full line of hooks and beads by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com. 3. M-Wing Emerger - Dave Gamet of Dakota Angler & Outfitter ties the M-Wing Emerger. This pattern is an effective mayfly emerger pattern, that can be adapted to match many species of mayflies. The M-Wing Mayfly Emerger uses the Daiichi 1160 Klinkhammer Special hook. The shape of the hook allows the abdomen of the fly to hang subsurface like an emerging mayfly. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

5. CDC Emerging Mayfly Nymph - Fly Tying with Hans - CDC Emerging Mayfly Nymph. This has been a very successful pattern for imitating emerging late summer yellow mayflies, especially pale evening duns. It has fooled many selective fish on our tailwater. The body and thorax are made of CDC. This pattern can be tied in various color schemes to imitate different mayfly species. It can also be tied on a curved emerger style hook. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

6. Parachute Adams Emerger - The Parachute Adams Emerger is one of the most effective mayfly patterns that I fish. I am tying this emerger pattern on an Allen Fly Fishing N204BL hook between the sizes of 14 through 16. This particular hook is a barbless scud hook with a down-eye, 2x short shank and thin wire. This hook very sharp, super strong and has a beautiful nickel finish, so check them out by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com I fish this fly throughout the late spring and summer months when mayfly hatches are present. I generally fish this fly as a trailing fly behind a mayfly dun or attractor dry fly. This fly sits low in the surface film of the water while the foam post remains visual to the angler. Many fish key on this type of pattern because of the vulnerability of the fly during its emerging stage of its life cycle. 7. Sulphur Soft Hackle Emerger - During this tutorial, the Sulphur Soft Hackle Emerger is tied, an effective pattern that can be classified as a "guide fly" due to the short amount of time it takes to tie this pattern. Representing the emerger stage of the mayfly life cycle, this pattern imitates the mayfly as it is about to release its nymphal shuck and continue as the mayfly adult dun. Feel free to vary the size and color of this pattern to imitate the natural mayflies in your local streams. Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the D102BL hooks from Allen Fly Fishing; you can find those hooks and more at the following link: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/d102bl... 9. Go2 Emerger - There is a reason why I call this pattern Go2 Emerger..... enough said. The great thing about this pattern is that it so versatile. It has proven to be successful in all levels of the water column; you just need to find were the fish are feeding. The Go2 midge in black has been the most productive for me. It works extremely well during small midge and trico hatches. I now some of you are saying "midges don't have a tail", I know, but somehow the fish can't stop eating this fly. I also tie this pattern with a light cahill thread to mimic a PMD or Light Cahill, as well as an olive brown thread to mimic a Blue Winged Olive. Tie some of them up and see for yourself. The Go2 Emerger is tied on an AFF N304 (straight-eye, 2x - short, reversed bend hook). This is my favorite hook that Allen Fly Fishing produces.
