1. Emergence Caddis Larva - The Emergence Caddis Larva is one of my favorite caddis larva patterns to tie and fish. It closely resembles John Barr's Uncased Caddis but with a few different materials and tying techniques. I am tying this pattern on an Allen Fly Fishing N202 hook. This particular hook is a down-eye, 3X-long, standard wire, slightly humped nymph /dry fly hook. It works great for caddis and terrestrial nymph and dry fly patterns. Check them out by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com This particular caddis larva pattern is tied to imitate an uncased caddis larva beginning its emergence stage of its life-cycle. I generally fish this pattern as my first fly in a tandem nymph rigging set-up between late spring and early fall. The fly gives off a lot of UV light qualities which attracts fish. The UV Fly Finish Coating provides the fly with a lot of depth. Below is a quick reference on what size brass bead to use relative to the size hook you're tying on. Allen Fly Fishing Hook Brass or Tungsten Bead Size 12 1/9" (2.8mm) Size 14 1/10" (2.4mm) Size 16 1/10" (2.4mm) To view RK's Fly Design complete fly collection Visit www.facebook.com/RKsFlyDesign - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

3. TC's Caddis Pupa - In this fly tying tutorial, I showcase the stage prior to a caddisfly becoming an adult, the pupal stage. This fly, TC's Caddis Pupa, has various materials representing the major characteristics of a caddis pupa, and I encourage you to try others to fool trout and grayling in your area. I also feature a special method of utilizing cdc as legs, which is by incorporating the use of a dubbing loop (though I recommend this method for more intermediate tyers). Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the N205BL hooks by Allen Fly Fishing, which are a thin wire and offset. The hooks are perfect for representing both the larva and pupa stages of the caddis, plus many other insects. Feel free to view these hooks at the following link: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/n205bl-caddis-pupa-and-larva-offset-point/ Thanks for viewing this fly tying tutorial; feel free to leave any comments on this YouTube page or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

4. Hydropsyche Caddis Larvae - Tying with Hans - Hydropsyche Caddis Larvae. This has been a solid producer for me in areas with good populations of free swimming caddis larvae. This pattern is very similar to the caddis patterns of Oliver Edwards. Thanks for the great tips and instruction Oliver! The legs are a great addition to any caddis larva pattern, or stoneflies and clinger mayfly nymphs. Happy Tying. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

5. Iced Cased Caddis - In this tutorial, I showcase a pattern meant to imitate a caddis as it is drifting in the stream while in its case, Aaron Jasper's Iced Cased Caddis. Typically, the case is found attached to a rock or streambed, yet trout will take this pattern as it drifts, possibly due to the green caddis thorax showing as it appears to "emerge" from the case. Vary this pattern by substituting other materials for the case and thorax, though I prefer a tungsten bead to help the fly stay down, while the color black represents a caddis head. Thanks for viewing, and feel free to leave comments/questions on this page, or email: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

6. PFD Caddis - A fly tying video on how to tie a PFD Caddis, a Hi Float - Hi Vis Dry Fly. This dry fly pattern is one my favorite flies to use in the evenings with my customers out of the boat. Casting these little caddis flies up to the bank is more fun than you can shake a stick at. The PFD Caddis is tied to float high and be visible at any reasonable distance. I prefer to use white foam because it has the highest contrast on the water. This fly is also great for "skittering" your caddis because it floats every time. The dry fly fishing on the rivers near Aspen, CO is world class. From little stream pockets to big river runs, an angler can cast a dry fly all day in the Summer months. If you would like to learn more about the fishing in Colorado and book a float that you will never forget, go to http://www.riplips.com. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

7. October Caddis Pupa - Dustin's October Caddis Pupa fly pattern is a great fly to swing for steelhead and even trout at the end of September just prior to the emergence of the adult October caddis. It is best to coordinate your timing will the falling of the the leaves. October caddis are already an unpredictable hatch, but the pupa become active when they notice temperatures falling. Also, look for pupal shucks along bankside rocks and you will know the time is right. Sometimes fishing a pupa pattern versus the actual adult on the surface will produce more strikes since it is the easier take for steelhead. Fish this pattern with confidence and hang on! - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
