64. Solitude - Winter fishing Montana - Solitude might be one of the best things about winter fishing. Often you feel like you would have to hunt just to find another angler. The river takes on a different persona in the winter and it forces you to look just a little closer. This piece was filmed in one afternoon. It was good to get back behind the camera and just film something and see where it goes. Thanks to Stan for helping with some 2nd angles and we'll be back after it soon! 67. A Fishing Year Along The River Vindelaelven - part 1 - The first episode (1 of 6) of A Fishing Year Along The River Vindelälven Valley. In this episode we follow Tor and Erik in search of the big spring pikes with their fly rods in the Umeälven river delta. In this area there are excellent opportunities for both to capture the many and very large specimens during the time of year when the pike aggregate for spawning, which normally occurs in April or May just after the ice has left the river. Catch and Release of fish is encouraged during this period to secure reproduction. We also get to see beautiful pictures of pike aggregated for spawning, but these Tor and Erik wisely leave undisturbed. During May the grayling also aggregate for spawning and Rolf head up to a spawning site in the Sorsele area to capture great pictures with his camera equipment. 69. Melancholic Dodding in New Zealand - This video is made of scraps from a trip in 2011/12 to New Zealand. I've felt so depressed over the winter that edits such as this are typical - no smiles, hardly any emotion, just an all-consuming self-pity. I ask myself that fundamental question of life: why am I not fly fishing? Meanwhile, the snow falls, the rivers are frozen and my bank account drained. It is at times like that edits such as this one come about - all mellow and moody. I forgot about this one until recently. Spring came, fishing had to be done and then, suddenly, I remembered. Which is a paradox, because now it is actually possible to fish, rather than just dream about it. Another paradox is that it takes longer to read this than to watch the video. I'll stop now. Enjoy!
