62. Squidro - The Squidro fly is an Intruder style fly developed by Scott Howell, the self-proclaimed Skagit Master . His fly achieves a new style never seen before in steelheading by using less bulky rubber legs instead of furs and feathers. In the water, the fly has a large silhouette profile, is more durable, less bulky so it's faster sinking, creates lots of action, and is easier to cast since rubber does not hold water, like furs and feathers do. The color scheme possibilities are endless with this fly so you are allowed to get creative when choosing the rubber leg colors you want for this style fly. Tie one in your favorite colors today, and get swinging for steelhead. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

63. The Best Redfish Fly - Marsh Crab - Marsh Crab is it's name. You can't say it isn't the best if you haven't fished with it, and you will agree if you have. This deadly Redfish Fly is my favorite fly to use in the Louisiana Marsh and it works like a charm for every redfish I have cast it in front of. The advantage of this Redfish Crab Pattern is that it will always ride hook point up, it makes a realistic splash when you cast it and it is visible in almost any water condition. Redfish wolf this fly as soon as they see it. Elk hair is the material used for the body of this fly, however you can use deer hair just as easily. Capt Matt is a redfish fly fishing guide in the Louisiana Marsh throughout October, November and December, if you would like to sight fish for big Redfish in the Mississippi Delta Marsh, go to http://riplips.com Thanks for watching. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

64. The Royal Trude and Variation - For this fly tying tutorial, I wanted to bring more light to a tradition pattern, the Royal Trude. Instead of simply describing and tying this fly, I focused on possible variations that a tyer would make to enhance the fly, bringing it up to more "modern-day" materials. The original pattern is a highly effective fly, being fished as a dry (attractor), wet fly. and streamer; the variation is able to be fished this way, too. Other common flies this pattern can represent include terrestrials, stoneflies, caddis, and drakes. Current versions of this fly are also well-known; the Lime Trude won a One-Fly contest, thus solidifying this pattern for years to come. Featured in this tutorial are D102BL dry fly hooks by Allen Fly Fishing (http://www.allenflyfishing.com/d102bl... these hooks are excellent for a variety of dry fly patterns. A second product featured is the cape by Clearwater Hackle (http://www.clearwaterhackle.com/capes/); this product is some of the best available on today's market. Thanks for viewing this fly tying tutorial for the Royal Trude and Variation; please leave and comments or questions on this YouTube page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

65. Utah Killer Bug - In this fly tying tutorial, I wanted to share a fly given to me by my buddy Tom, the Utah Killer Bug. This fly can represent a myriad of insects depending on how you tie it. From the crane fly larva to scud, this pattern tied in a nondescript color seems to simply look like a bug (especially when it's wet!). There are a couple variations shown at the end, plus you can always make this pattern into a soft hackle, which can then touch on the caddis spectrum. Tom, thanks for sharing this pattern! Mentioned in the introduction of this video was a shout-out to the Eldredge Brothers Fly Shop; this is a shop that offers incredible seminars throughout the year. 66. Only the River Knows - Only the River Knows is a brand new, 80-minute fly fishing film shot in New Zealand, Australia, Norway and Sweden. The main part of the film takes place by the legendary Lethe River on New Zealand's wild and wondrous South Island. Back in 1988, one of the most iconic fly fishers of our time, Lars Lenth, spent three months exploring the fabled river and fishing for its abnormally large trout. At night, he would sit down in a remote cabin and write down his experiences in a journal. Nearly 25 years later, the young trout bum Rolf Nylinder looses his way in the wilderness near Lethe. By chance, he finds the long-lost journal, full of insights about the very soul of fly fishing. Along with Rolf on the trip is documentarist Peter Christensen, filming their mostly failing attempts to catch trout, and Rolf's ever-growing obsession of the journal. The entire journal of Lars Lenth has been reconstructed by an extensive and ambitious team of cinematographers and crew members. The young, sensitive and freedom-loving Lenth is played by Danish fly fishing ace and actor Mikkel Poppelhøj, who had to practise four hours daily for six months to be able to cast as well as the role necessitated. Only the River Knows has been produced by Peter Christensen and Rolf Nylinder from Kokkaffe Conglomerate on a very tight budget (called Mastercard). Early reviews have been very positive, and we hope many of you out there will enjoy the film, and share the wonders of fly fishing with us. Here are a few: "A Herculean effort", Ryan Peterson, Eastern Rises (we hope Ryan doesn't refer to the Disney character) "Just when I thought fly fishing films couldn't get any better, Peter and Rolf raised the bar, yet again!", Nick Pujic, Fly Max Films On our website onlytheriverknows.com you can find dealers or order the film directly through our webshop. Just click the link in the end of the film. Every dollars, dime and cent will go into making new film, and we feel blessed to have received so much support from the fly fishing world already. Enjoy and lots of love, Peter and Rolf Kokkaffe Conglomerate Read more in our article about the project - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

67. Lake Troll - Trolling with big, flashy and colorful fly patterns can be a very productive way to cover a wide variety of stillwater structure areas. Calvin Fuller's Lake Troll fly is very effective in creating movement in the water by using big materials and bold flashy colors to gain the attraction of lake trout and even other lake dwelling fish species. Designed to mimic small kokanee salmon, this fly is very popular in Lake Pend Oreille in Idaho and Kootenay Lake in Southern British Columbia just north of the Idaho border. Finding the right depth and speed while trolling flys with a full sinking fly line just might be more production than any other trolling you have ever done. Tie some of these up, or put your own creative twist to this fly and get out and start trolling your favorite stillwaters. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

69. Bastard Crab - I call this fly the Bastard Crab because it is my bastardization of a great pattern I picked up from Greg Vincent, who runs H2O Bonefishing on Grand Bahama Island. Greg is a fantastic fly tyer, and ties some productive and great looking flies. I used one of his crab patterns on a trip there in June 2008, and came home and tied my version from memory, with a little bit of a pesonal twist - not as nice a fly as Greg's, but the bastardized version is also very effective. I've caught bonefish, redfish, and tripletail on this pattern so far. I've also seen this type of pattern showing up in numerous other spots, suggesting it is widely effective. This pattern is a variation of the famous Del Brown Merkin crab pattern. I use Puglisi fibers for the body instead of yarn. There is no hackle for claws, only marabou, and the numerous (6 legs for size 2, 5 for size 4) legs are tied in on the hook side of the shank to that they stand up from the fly rather than splay out. The fly does not have to be stripped, the legs and marabou provide plenty of action to a falling or resting fly. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

70. The BC Needlefish - Trolling Bucktail style flies tied on tubes was very common during the glory days of ocean Silver Salmon recreational fisheries of the 1950s -- 1980s from Northern California through SE Alaska. Regions like Puget Sound and Vancouver Island spawned many versions of Coho Tube flies that had local followings and rationale for the selection of one pattern over another. Near as I can tell, fly anglers used these tube Bucktail flies to troll as well as cast to feeding Coho in saltwater. The various fly patterns are sometimes suggestive of a natural baitfish and sometimes just wild bright flashy fish strike attractors. This Tube Bucktail is a simple pattern inspired by several flies I have seen popularized by BC anglers specifically imitating big Needlefish. The Steve Farrar's Blend material is easy to work with, durable, and swims your fly true, without the worry of needing to select the perfect Bucktail hair.
