114. Vintage WOTF - Swingin' For Steel 1 - Here's a blast from the past! Nearly a decade ago we began fishing the remote Bell Irving, Nass and Damdochax rivers in Northern BC. This is a little known and very wild steelhead destination accessed and supported by a heli-skiing lodge. It was the venue for one of our first video efforts produced for television. We brought along Andy Murray, English Spey fisherman extraordinaire, in the hopes of filming this Atlantic salmon maestro catching his first steelhead. In Part 1 we dive into the angling and native sub-culture of British Columbia and get introduced to winter-conditions steelheading by outfitter Geoff Straight and our own double-hander veteran Vern Olson. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

115. The BC Needlefish - Trolling Bucktail style flies tied on tubes was very common during the glory days of ocean Silver Salmon recreational fisheries of the 1950s -- 1980s from Northern California through SE Alaska. Regions like Puget Sound and Vancouver Island spawned many versions of Coho Tube flies that had local followings and rationale for the selection of one pattern over another. Near as I can tell, fly anglers used these tube Bucktail flies to troll as well as cast to feeding Coho in saltwater. The various fly patterns are sometimes suggestive of a natural baitfish and sometimes just wild bright flashy fish strike attractors. This Tube Bucktail is a simple pattern inspired by several flies I have seen popularized by BC anglers specifically imitating big Needlefish. The Steve Farrar's Blend material is easy to work with, durable, and swims your fly true, without the worry of needing to select the perfect Bucktail hair. 116. Pike on the fly - A compilation of some of the best pike fly fishing days during the winter of 2013/2014. Fishing large bodies of water from the float tube in search of those massive northern pikes. Cold days, hard wind and large areas makes it a challenging fishery. Not only your endurance will get tested but also your gear. For such an undertaking we use Loop Cross and Booster rods, Hatch and Loop reels and fish with di7 sinking lines, Searching the depths on our fish finders and trying to spot potential hotspots where these massive beast lie in ambush. If you're lucky you might see a fish on your finder but it's all about bottom structures. These waters contain loads of pike and days where we land one or two pike over a meter are no exception. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

118. 4 Months - Like many northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest fly fishers, we occasionally find ourselves bouncing off the walls as the dark days of winter persist. Just a few days ago a friend reminded us that the long days of high summer are just four months away. This short highlights a few bits and pieces of footage we shot on Montana's Missouri River in July of 2013 working on a project with Fire Girl Jess McGlothlin and angler Zack Williams. 119. Recapture - a fly fishing film - Recapture shows the importance of Fly Fishing not only as a sport, but also as priceless way to facilitate connections; connections to our environment, each other, and the fish we spend countless hours pursuing. It’s funny; when I look back at my formative years I realize the time we are connected to the fish represent a small drop in the bucket of time. It’s not the fish, but the intricate web of connections to all facets of life in the social and environmental spectrum that occupies the majority of our time fishing. That’s what keeps us coming back for more. In the grand scheme of things, it’s the sights and sounds of our favorite fishery, the friendships, and the community that endures long after a day on the river is over, or the last grain of salt has been washed from our fingertips. Maybe it’s the thought of the pull that gets us out there initially, but it’s the people and places that make the memory. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

120. Alaska - La Frontera Norte 2014 Fly Fishing Film Tour Trailer - In 2012, the Scorpion Reef expedition took the fly fishing world by storm. A group of close friends -- anglers from a variety of backgrounds and locales, pooled their talents for an exploratory trip to a remote atoll in the Gulf of Mexico. What they found was something truly amazing. The wildlife, the camaraderie, an untouched fishery and a wild adventure resulted in one of the most unique and unforgettable adventures of a lifetime. They realized something profound -- the deeper one travels into remote and untouched locations, the greater the drive to go even deeper the next time. The experience becomes addicting... there are always new limits to push, new edges to nudge. Scorpion Reef would be a hard trip to beat. In planning the next great adventure, the crew wanted to take crewmember Alejandro "Sandflea" Vega Cruz, a Mexican from Isla Holbox, out of his element and show him something life changing. The result was an expedition into the heart of the Alaskan bush. The crew revisited an unknown and largely untouched river system -- explored by RA Beattie and Alaska guide Mark Rutherford almost a decade earlier. Their intention? To target sportfish primarily with topwater.
