52. BASS Worm - Fly Tying with Ryan - BASS Worm. Nevermind the silly accent and the off centered camera view, this fly works. It works especially well on largemouth, but I have caught a few catfish on it too. Hmm. Guess you'd better tie some. Tie it on a size 4 or 6. Good colors to tie are purple, black, and olive. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

53. Fall Special - A short fly tying video showing how to tie a Fall Special Nymph. This bead head fly is tied using a #16 nymph hook, but this simple pattern can be tied to match the hatch. I use the Fall Special just about all year, and especially August through October. I believe that this pattern looks like a drowned PMD Spinner or perhaps a struggling nymph. This fly will work best whenever you see brown or rusty spinners over the water. If you have ever considered fly fishing in the Colorado Rockies, this is your year. Recent years of low water have made the hatches bountiful and long lasting. The fish are bigger and stronger than you might think. Consider hiring me, Capt. Matt, to show you an incredible fly fishing experience from a boat when you travel to the Colorado Rockies this year. 54. Capercaillie Sculpin - Hook: Kamasan B840 or Partridge JS11 Thread: 8/0 UniThread, white Cone: Silver conehead in the appropriate size Tails: Partridge flank feather barbs Body: Austrailian Opossom, natural Body hackles: Partridge flank feather Front hackle: Capercaillie body feather One of my goto patterns for seatrout on the coasts and bays of Djursland, Denmark. Very easy fly to tie, that fishes well all year around. If you tie the fly to the tippet with a small rapala loop, the fly has an awesome motion in the water. Looks almost like a small sculpin. You can tie them in any size you'd like, but I prefer them large - large as in size 2 or larger. The best hooks for this kind of fly, in my opinion, are the hooks with a large hook gape. I find the TMC 811S and Mustad 34007 to have too small of a hook gape for this kind of pattern. I only used the capercaillie to make a fly that sticks out, and to the best of my knowledge, I don't think there's a saltwater pattern for seatrout that uses these feathers. You can use whatever front hackle you'd like or have available. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

55. Simple Bonefish Crab Fly - A deadly Bonefish Crab Fly that is simple to tie, durable and the fish cannot resist biting it. One advantage to this crab pattern is that it will not make a huge splash in the face of a wary bonefish. This Bonefish Crab is one of the best flies to use for casting at the big bonefish in the Florida Keys Backcountry. I like to tie this crab pattern with elk hair, however any color deer or elk hair will work great. I also chose to use a medium set of dumbbell eyes, but this fly can be tied to meet any fishing situation. Capt Matt guides in Florida and Louisiana for shallow feeding fish. If you haven't tried flats fishing or you love it as much as I do, You need to stand in the front of my boat. go to http://riplips.com for information and booking. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

56. Mercury Midge - Glass Bead Midge - Beginning Fly Tying - Mercury Midge - Glass Bead Midge. This is one of the best flies to begin a tying career. These flies are simple to tie. Tying a glass bead midge teaches how to wrap thread and how to rib a body. Probably the best reason for tying this pattern is, that despite being so simple to tie, it catches loads of fish. For the waters I regularly fish, it makes more sense to tie a few dozen of these rather than tying a box full of wooly buggers. Vary the thread colors to include black, olive, and red bodies. The availability of wire and thread colors makes for endless color combinations. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

57. Juvenile Stonefly Nymph - A fly tying video showing how to tie an Juvenile Stonefly. This nymph pattern is meant to imitate a stonefly that is one year old and about half of its eventual size at maturity. Stoneflies live in the river beneath the rocks for two years before hatching into a flying adult. This easy Stonefly Pattern is tied just like a big Pheasant Tail Nymph on a long curved hook, it can be tied bigger or smaller and with many different colors of pheasant. Fly fishing on the West Slope of the Colorado Rockies is best with a stonefly on the end of your line.
