11. Pumpkinhead - The pumpkin head is a staple pattern in many western still water anglers flyboxes. John Kent popped by the fly shop at Robinson's this past weekend to demo some of his favourite stillwater patterns. This is the first of a weekly installment of tying videos of patterns John spun up during the demo. Here is one (of many) of his claims to fame--the pumpkin head. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

13. Emergence Caddis Larva - The Emergence Caddis Larva is one of my favorite caddis larva patterns to tie and fish. It closely resembles John Barr's Uncased Caddis but with a few different materials and tying techniques. I am tying this pattern on an Allen Fly Fishing N202 hook. This particular hook is a down-eye, 3X-long, standard wire, slightly humped nymph /dry fly hook. It works great for caddis and terrestrial nymph and dry fly patterns. Check them out by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com This particular caddis larva pattern is tied to imitate an uncased caddis larva beginning its emergence stage of its life-cycle. I generally fish this pattern as my first fly in a tandem nymph rigging set-up between late spring and early fall. The fly gives off a lot of UV light qualities which attracts fish. The UV Fly Finish Coating provides the fly with a lot of depth. Below is a quick reference on what size brass bead to use relative to the size hook you're tying on. Allen Fly Fishing Hook Brass or Tungsten Bead Size 12 1/9" (2.8mm) Size 14 1/10" (2.4mm) Size 16 1/10" (2.4mm) To view RK's Fly Design complete fly collection Visit www.facebook.com/RKsFlyDesign - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

14. Czech Quill Body Nymph - Fly Tying with Hans - Czech Quill Body Nymph. Here is a play on a thread bodied nymph with a hot spot. Most eastern European nymph patterns have hot spot to attract fish to strike the fly. This is a concept worth exploring. Try adding the hot spot while keeping the overall fly slender. These patterns are producing well on Rapid Creek in a two fly rig. I typically fish this fly above a jig fly. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

15. John Barr's Bouface - This is one of my favorite patterns tied by John Barr. This particular pattern, as well as other classic Barr patterns can be found in his book, Barr's Flies. The bouface is tied to mimic a leech and can be tied in many different color variations. The combination of squirrel hair, flashabou and marabou makes this an excellent fish catching pattern. This particular pattern is tied on a AFF N201 (3x-long, humped shank, nymph hook). This hook is super strong and extremely sharp. I have caught some 20 inch trout on this pattern and have never bent or broke this hook. Check out Allen Fly Fishing www.allenflyfishing.com to view their selection of hooks, beads and much more. 16. Last Chance CDC Baetis Cripple - Rene Harrop's fly patterns were developed with an experienced eye for detail. Proven on the Henry's Fork, one of the most demanding trout fisheries in the country. The Last Chance Cripple series are great patterns for selective fish. We use this Baetis version on our local tailwater with great success. Tie in sizes 16-22 for a Baetis (aka Blue Winged Olive) Cripple. The pattern is easily adapted to imitate other mayfly species. Thanks for watching! - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

19. Madison Guide Cripple - When researching some dry fly patterns for my trip to Montana a few years ago, I came across this pattern that would double as a mayfly or caddis emerger. This pattern was originated by Craig Matthews out of the Blue Ribbon Flies Shop in West Yellowstone. I have been more willing to try more cripple patterns since I have fished this one. It will always have a place in my fly box. Tying: Jared Plisko - www.brooksbrownsandbows.com Film and Editing: Nick Cramer - www.agtv.net - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
