131. Parachute Adams Emerger - The Parachute Adams Emerger is one of the most effective mayfly patterns that I fish. I am tying this emerger pattern on an Allen Fly Fishing N204BL hook between the sizes of 14 through 16. This particular hook is a barbless scud hook with a down-eye, 2x short shank and thin wire. This hook very sharp, super strong and has a beautiful nickel finish, so check them out by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com I fish this fly throughout the late spring and summer months when mayfly hatches are present. I generally fish this fly as a trailing fly behind a mayfly dun or attractor dry fly. This fly sits low in the surface film of the water while the foam post remains visual to the angler. Many fish key on this type of pattern because of the vulnerability of the fly during its emerging stage of its life cycle. 132. Long Shot - A story about a fly fishing couple with a shared passion for chasing carp along Colorado's Front Range. Jay Zimmerman and Erin Block share glimpses in to their lives as authors, creators of proven fly patterns, and anglers. Fly fishing for carp requires one to push the envelope in order to learn and grow, let alone connect with the fish. It is an ongoing evolution where, as in life, disparate successes are connected by a series of long shots. 134. Shuttlecock Buzzer - This pattern is based on the Shuttlecock Buzzer patterns I have seen published in Czech books and websites. I typically tie these in smaller sizes for imitating emerging midges on my local trout streams. My favorite sizes are 16-22. Black, Olive, and Grey are all productive colors. This fly can be tied much larger when fishing chironomid hatches on stillwaters. When tying this fly in larger sizes it helps to add 1 or 2 feathers to the wing. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

135. Flashback Pheasant Tail Fly - This fly tying tutorial features a fantastic nymph, the Flashback Pheasant Tail fly. This bead head pattern gets down to where the fish are and has more than enough flash to attract the attention of trout. Some will vary this fly by adding a hot spot to the head, though I feel that the flashback covered in UV glue is more than ample. Feel free to post your variations of this fly; the one in this video has pheasant tail dyed olive versus the natural color. Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the W501BL wet fly hooks by Allen Fly Fishing; these are excellent hooks that are useful for a variety of patterns. Check out those hooks and more at the following link: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/w501bl-wet-fly-nymph-1xl-barbless/ Thanks for viewing the tying of this fly; feel free to leave comments/questions on this YouTube page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

136. The BC Needlefish - Trolling Bucktail style flies tied on tubes was very common during the glory days of ocean Silver Salmon recreational fisheries of the 1950s -- 1980s from Northern California through SE Alaska. Regions like Puget Sound and Vancouver Island spawned many versions of Coho Tube flies that had local followings and rationale for the selection of one pattern over another. Near as I can tell, fly anglers used these tube Bucktail flies to troll as well as cast to feeding Coho in saltwater. The various fly patterns are sometimes suggestive of a natural baitfish and sometimes just wild bright flashy fish strike attractors. This Tube Bucktail is a simple pattern inspired by several flies I have seen popularized by BC anglers specifically imitating big Needlefish. The Steve Farrar's Blend material is easy to work with, durable, and swims your fly true, without the worry of needing to select the perfect Bucktail hair.
