92. Iced Pupa - Wine - This is one of the most effective midge patterns that I fish in the winter and early spring. I've had success with this fly on the Colorado, Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Gunnison and Uncomphagre rivers within the last few years. I generally fish this pattern as the "end" fly on a tandem rigging set-up. I will use a heavy tungsten fly such as a "UV Ice Prince" or "Wired UV Stone" as my lead fly. This will insure that my fly reaches the bottom fast for an optimal drift as well as attracts fish that are looking for a "hearty" meal. So tie up some of these midges and see for yourself how successful they can be. 93. Hen Hackle: Tips & Techniques - In this "Tips & Techniques" fly tying video, I explain some common uses for hen hackle. As a beginning fly tyer over 20 years ago, I knew little about the differences between hen and rooster, thus I wanted to give a brief overview and show a few common applications for the actual hen feathers. There are many more uses for hen hackle, but this video features the common ones that I employ, especially with JV Hen Hackle. The various applications I show are: Tailing and legs (especially for use with patterns such as the Copper John), beards on wet fly patterns, and soft hackles. These are just a few possibilities for utilizing hen hackles. Speaking of JV Hen Hackle, I want to give a shout-out to Cleawater Hackle, which is where I get the majority of the hackle I use. They have an incredible product called JV Hen Hackle, which offers smaller and softer feathers, especially for those tying trout flies. The feathers will tie down to 18 on soft hackles, and there are lots of great colors (I discuss the JV Hungarian Partridge Hen Hackle a lot in this video!). When you visit their site, be sure to let Lars (the owner) know that I sent you: http://www.clearwaterhackle.com/jv-hens/ Thanks for viewing this YouTube fly tying tutorial; feel free to leave any comments/questions on this site, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

94. Black Stimulator - Adult Stonefly - A fly tying video showing how to tie a Black Stimulator. This attractor dry fly works well as an Adult Stonefly imitation. This Stimulator Pattern includes foam for the under body of the fly. Foam body dry flies are durable, easy to tie and they float better than most other dry flies. In Colorado, stoneflies begin to hatch during runoff in the Spring and continue hatching through the month of September. Fishing with Stimulator Patterns is a great way to catch a lot of fish. If you would like to take a float trip and cast big dry flies up to the bank, the fly fishing near Aspen, CO is as good as it gets. 100. Deer Hair Ant - In this fly tying tutorial, less is definitely more! Featured in this video is a deer hair ant consisting of just a couple materials. The buoyant fly is realistic, easy to tie, and most importantly, effective. I first stumbled across this pattern in George Harvey's book and believe this to be one of the best ant patterns out there. You can also turn this into a high-visibility fly by adding some fluorescent yarn to the top. As always, if you decide to revise the pattern at all, please feel free to share the results! The hook that I feature in this fly tying tutorial is the N202 from Allen Fly Fishing. This hook is intended for terrestrials and really suits this pattern. You can view this hook (and more) at the following link: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/n202-nymph-dry-fly/ Thanks for viewing this fly tying tutorial; feel free to leave any comments/questions directly on this YouTube page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
