21. Red Headed Stepchild - Hogan Brown designed the Red Headed Stepchild to take the place of two general attractor nymphs; the Red Copper John and Red Headed Prince. The Red Headed Stepchild employs proven fish attracting elements like the color red and a flash back. Most important to the success of this fly is its accurate silhouette of a mayfly or small stonefly. He fishes this fly as a dropper behind bigger stoneflies or caddis pupae. The Stepchild has also worked well for steelhead when dropped off an egg pattern. He has had consistent success on rivers where fish get a lot of pressure from Pheasant Tail Flash Back, Red Copper Johns, and Red Head Princes. The Stepchild will perform in just about any fishing conditions, but it shines most at times where fish are not keyed on a specific hatch and are in an opportunistic feeding mode. Hogan Brown - Stepchild Designer (from Idylwilde website) MATERIALS: • Dai-Riki #070 - Size 16 • 1/16" MFC Lucent Bead - Tungsten Red • Ringneck Pheasant Center Tails - Natural • UTC Ultra Thread 70 - Brown • UTC Small Ultra Wire - Red • UTC Medium Tinsel - Pearl • Grizzly Krystal Flash - Black/Red - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

23. Iced Pupa - Wine - This is one of the most effective midge patterns that I fish in the winter and early spring. I've had success with this fly on the Colorado, Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Gunnison and Uncomphagre rivers within the last few years. I generally fish this pattern as the "end" fly on a tandem rigging set-up. I will use a heavy tungsten fly such as a "UV Ice Prince" or "Wired UV Stone" as my lead fly. This will insure that my fly reaches the bottom fast for an optimal drift as well as attracts fish that are looking for a "hearty" meal. So tie up some of these midges and see for yourself how successful they can be. 27. Bloody Mary Nymph Pattern - For this tutorial, I chose a fly that has an extremely traditional look, known as the Bloody Mary. The tying of this nymph includes a few intermediate techniques, but is generally a simple and straightforward process. Featured in the video are J100BL jig hooks from Allen Fly Fishing (http://www.allenflyfishing.com/copy-of-w501bl-wet-fly-nymph-1xl-barbless/), which are extremely effective to fish with, especially when desiring a drag-free drift, with or without an indicator. Thanks for viewing, and feel free to leave any comments on this page or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

28. July Fly Fishing in NE Michigan 2013 - I know I've done this same video at least four times over the years...but as I phase out doing shorts (and fly fishing content in general...getting kind of bored of it) for one last time, a week spent up at the cabin in Michigan. I fished mainly solo and tried to take at least some type of camera with me on most trips. It's tough to shoot yourself fishing and to be honest a perfect pain in the ass...but I did what I could. It ain't going to win any awards I can promise you that... - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

29. A Tungsten Nymph - Not a pretty fly, but effective. This is a very good general purpose nymph, useful for getting deep on streams or rivers. The clipped body gives a nice profile without bulk, and the 3mm tungsten bead helps the thing to sink. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

30. Soft Hackle Glass Emerger - The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is a quick/ easy tie and very effective mayfly emerger pattern. I generally fish this fly within the surface film or on the swing. The iridescent glass bead gives the illusion of an air bubble of an emerging fly and the fluoro fibre wing has an excellent UV light quality. I also tie this pattern with a light cahill thread to mimic a PMD or Light Cahill, as well as an olive brown thread to mimic a Blue Winged Olive. Tie some of them up and see for yourself. The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is tied on an AFF N304 (straight-eye, 2x - short, reversed bend hook). This is my favorite hook that Allen Fly Fishing produces. It's thin wire and perfect reversed bend makes it a superior emerger hook. Check out their full line of hooks and beads by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com.
