131. Improved Pheasant Tail nymph - Featured in this fly tying tutorial is the "Improved" Pheasant Tail nymph, which is a classic in the fly fishing world. Using the word "improved" is where I tread softly because Frank Sawyer's original is a tough pattern to revise. With that said, in the video I substitute Coq de Leon as the tailing fibers for two reasons. First, the material is extremely durable and resistant to tearing. Second, the mottling featured on Coq de Leon is excellent, and very representational of mayfly nymphs. Please feel free to comment on this pattern and share any modifications that you have made to improve the original Pheasant Tail. This pattern is one of those I feature in the "Two Minute Tying" series. These flies are more of "guide flies," meaning they can be tied in a short amount of time, and more importantly, catch fish. Thanks for viewing this fly tying tutorial of the "Improved" Pheasant Tail; feel free to leave any questions/comments on this YouTube page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

134. Immortal - This tying video was put together for the Revive Fly Fishing online magazine (reviveflyfishing.com). I was asked to come up with a fly using a Misfit Halo Head (misfitfly.com). I used the large Misfit Halo Head and combined it with a Deceiver type fly. The girth of the head pushes water over the body giving the schlappen and grizzly hackles (and the whole fly) a ton of movement. This is a good size fly that could be used for pike or hunting big trout. Materials in order from back to front. 138. A Fishing Year Along The River Vindelaelven - part 1 - The first episode (1 of 6) of A Fishing Year Along The River Vindelälven Valley. In this episode we follow Tor and Erik in search of the big spring pikes with their fly rods in the Umeälven river delta. In this area there are excellent opportunities for both to capture the many and very large specimens during the time of year when the pike aggregate for spawning, which normally occurs in April or May just after the ice has left the river. Catch and Release of fish is encouraged during this period to secure reproduction. We also get to see beautiful pictures of pike aggregated for spawning, but these Tor and Erik wisely leave undisturbed. During May the grayling also aggregate for spawning and Rolf head up to a spawning site in the Sorsele area to capture great pictures with his camera equipment.
