126. Shakey Beeley Slate Drake (Isonychia) Soft Hackle - Featured in this fly tying tutorial is an absolute fish-catching soft hackle fly called the Shakey Beeley, care of Blue Ribbon Flies and Mr. Nick Nicklas. As explained in this video, there is a great story accompanying the fly, though the line between fact and fiction is a tad grey. Regardless, this pattern has earned a place in many fly boxes for its ability to imitate various insects, from emerging mayflies to drowned stoneflies. In this tutorial, I explain the techniques to tie the Shakey Beeley as an Isonychia, aka Slate Drake, plus a few methods to fish the pattern, as well. Feel free to modify this fly to match the natural insects on your home (or traveled to!) waters. Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the N202 hooks by Allen Fly Fishing; be sure to check out these hooks and many others at the following link: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/n202-nymph-dry-fly/ Additionally featured in this tutorial is hen hackle from Clearwater Hackle; please check out that hackle and many others at the following link: http://www.clearwaterhackle.com/mature-hens/ Thanks for viewing this YouTube fly tying tutorial for the Shakey Beeley; feel free to leave comments/questions on this page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

129. Alaska - La Frontera Norte 2014 Fly Fishing Film Tour Trailer - In 2012, the Scorpion Reef expedition took the fly fishing world by storm. A group of close friends -- anglers from a variety of backgrounds and locales, pooled their talents for an exploratory trip to a remote atoll in the Gulf of Mexico. What they found was something truly amazing. The wildlife, the camaraderie, an untouched fishery and a wild adventure resulted in one of the most unique and unforgettable adventures of a lifetime. They realized something profound -- the deeper one travels into remote and untouched locations, the greater the drive to go even deeper the next time. The experience becomes addicting... there are always new limits to push, new edges to nudge. Scorpion Reef would be a hard trip to beat. In planning the next great adventure, the crew wanted to take crewmember Alejandro "Sandflea" Vega Cruz, a Mexican from Isla Holbox, out of his element and show him something life changing. The result was an expedition into the heart of the Alaskan bush. The crew revisited an unknown and largely untouched river system -- explored by RA Beattie and Alaska guide Mark Rutherford almost a decade earlier. Their intention? To target sportfish primarily with topwater. 130. Last Chance CDC Baetis Cripple - Rene Harrop's fly patterns were developed with an experienced eye for detail. Proven on the Henry's Fork, one of the most demanding trout fisheries in the country. The Last Chance Cripple series are great patterns for selective fish. We use this Baetis version on our local tailwater with great success. Tie in sizes 16-22 for a Baetis (aka Blue Winged Olive) Cripple. The pattern is easily adapted to imitate other mayfly species.
