64. Mercury Midge - Glass Bead Midge - Beginning Fly Tying - Mercury Midge - Glass Bead Midge. This is one of the best flies to begin a tying career. These flies are simple to tie. Tying a glass bead midge teaches how to wrap thread and how to rib a body. Probably the best reason for tying this pattern is, that despite being so simple to tie, it catches loads of fish. For the waters I regularly fish, it makes more sense to tie a few dozen of these rather than tying a box full of wooly buggers. Vary the thread colors to include black, olive, and red bodies. The availability of wire and thread colors makes for endless color combinations. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

65. Solo Weekend 27-2-2014 - Back south this weekend. Conditions were excellent with clear water and light swell. Lots of bait fish on the flats, but few predators. Chased a few permit and bream. The permit were rude and every bream came unpinned at the very end which made for an easy release. Kilometers of beach, stars, stars, stars and the solitude made up for the lack of fish. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

66. BBC Salmon Parr - BBC is a simple to tie, effect salmon parr pattern we fish for steelhead. It most commonly gets hammered on the end of a drift when swinging....so, it's kind of like a little streamer. I like to tie streamers so I'll consider this a micro streamer. The fly was built by a buddy in a late night bug tying frezny. It didn't have a name at the time. We were getting shut out one day and he pulled the unknown bug out of a box, said try this. I declined, another guy tied it on. First drift he got bit so opted for one also. A couple drifts in I was also hooked up. The BBC was born when some dropped these "Bitches Be Crazy". 67. Hot Wire Prince Nymph - The Hot Wire Prince Nymph is an effective pattern, primarily because some of its best characteristics are a combination of those found in the Prince and Copper John nymphs. There are some base characteristics of the Prince Nymph, with the added Ultra Wire giving this pattern weight and color. There are many color combinations that can be used for the body, thus don't be afraid to try some others and see how they work in your area. Feel free to share those combinations in the comments below. Thanks go out to Allen Fly Fishing for the use of the W501BL nymph and wet fly hook. This is a 1xl hook that is perfect for this application. Check out this hook and more at: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/w501bl-wet-fly-nymph-1xl-barbless/ Thanks also go out to Clearwater Hackle for the JV Hen Hackle used in this pattern. There are many colors of the hackle available, thus giving you the opportunity to vary this pattern between light and dark shades.
