43. Capercaillie Sculpin - Hook: Kamasan B840 or Partridge JS11 Thread: 8/0 UniThread, white Cone: Silver conehead in the appropriate size Tails: Partridge flank feather barbs Body: Austrailian Opossom, natural Body hackles: Partridge flank feather Front hackle: Capercaillie body feather One of my goto patterns for seatrout on the coasts and bays of Djursland, Denmark. Very easy fly to tie, that fishes well all year around. If you tie the fly to the tippet with a small rapala loop, the fly has an awesome motion in the water. Looks almost like a small sculpin. You can tie them in any size you'd like, but I prefer them large - large as in size 2 or larger. The best hooks for this kind of fly, in my opinion, are the hooks with a large hook gape. I find the TMC 811S and Mustad 34007 to have too small of a hook gape for this kind of pattern. I only used the capercaillie to make a fly that sticks out, and to the best of my knowledge, I don't think there's a saltwater pattern for seatrout that uses these feathers. You can use whatever front hackle you'd like or have available. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

44. Constant - In fly fishing it can seem there are very few constants. Especially when it comes to the weather. The only constant I can think of, is that the truly nice days are far too few. We filmed two very different days in mid-February, and put this movie together for those on the fence about whether or not to fish based on some possible unpleasantness. One sunny, warm, and pleasant. The other dark, cold, and windy. In those two days we found a fly fishing constant. Definitely not the weather, but the river, and more importantly, the fish. 45. Rag Man Sculpin - The Rag Man Sculpin was designed to fish faster, freestone type waters, but has proven itself on many tailwaters as well. It is a larger articulated pattern with a heavy head. This design not only gives the fly S-swim action in the water, but also creates a nice jigging movement when stripped or twitched. Don't let the somewhat simple tie fool you on its effectiveness. Lots of good things merge into one on this heavy hitting sculpin pattern. Try a variety of sizes and colors to match the sculpins in your favorite waters. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

46. Tying a Tube Emerger McKenzie Special - As promised, Jay Nicholas takes trout fly tying to realms he has previously only dabbled in and shows how to tie yet another locally effective trout fly on a tube -- this time an emerging McKenzie Special Caddis. The pattern is effective wherever larger caddis are on the trout menu. This fly style is very effective fished in lakes and many rivers and is often tied on a long shank hook. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

49. Frank Moore: Mending the Line - Tough as nails, gentle as a poet, and determined as a badger, 90 year-old Frank Moore loves to fish. A World War II veteran, in 1944 he landed along with some 150,000 other troops on the beaches of Normandy, France for the D-Day allied invasion. Despite the cacophony of war around him, the young avid fly fisherman couldn’t help but notice the productive fisheries on the rivers he and his fellow troops crossed as they made their way into occupied France. His lifetime accomplishments as a fly fisherman, conservationist and a veteran have earned him many awards, including the prestigious Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor, and recent induction into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. He has guided and fished with many famous anglers, including actors, congressman and executives. He built and was the long time proprietor of the world renowned Steamboat Inn along the North Umpqua River. And now, reflecting back upon his life, he feels compelled to return to the rivers of Normandy, this time armed not with a gun, but with a fly rod and reel. 70 years later, we will follow Moore as he travels back to Normandy. Once a soldier witnessing the horrors of war, now he will return to these rivers as a fisherman seeking serenity on the water and bringing his life full circle. PROJECT OVERVIEW: This documentary project will profile Frank Moore's inspiring and dynamic life history and follow his return to France to fish the rivers that he crossed so many years ago as a 21 year old soldier amidst the devastation of war. There are few veterans in as good health as Frank, far fewer who have the courage and ability to travel back to France to see the war grounds of their past. In May 2013 the Uncage the Soul Production team will travel to France with Frank and his wife of 70 years, Jeanne, traversing the rivers and World War II landmarks of Normandy. With your support, we can all show our appreciation to this venerable veteran and others like him by making this dream of his a reality, documenting not only his lifetime of accomplishments, but also the beauty that lies in the world of fly fishing, allowing a man to confront his past and embrace his passion in a place that he once helped to free. With your help we can make this dream a reality, showing our appreciation and allowing a man to confront his past and embrace his passion in a place he once helped to free. 50. Sea Run Ghosts - Río Grande: one of the toughest kind of fishing a flyfisherman can experiment on his whole life. We dealt with miserable weather conditions like freezing temperatures, strong winds and rain. In this enviroment is where the biggest and more elusive trout in earth lives: The Sea Run Browns. Real ghosts coming from the ocean, that test the temple and spirit of those who dare to go after them. They are giants that can only be touched by the most daring and bravest fishermen around the world. Sea Run Ghosts: ...Do you belive in ghosts ? - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
