41. Pumpkinhead - The pumpkin head is a staple pattern in many western still water anglers flyboxes. John Kent popped by the fly shop at Robinson's this past weekend to demo some of his favourite stillwater patterns. This is the first of a weekly installment of tying videos of patterns John spun up during the demo. Here is one (of many) of his claims to fame--the pumpkin head. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

42. The Royal Trude and Variation - For this fly tying tutorial, I wanted to bring more light to a tradition pattern, the Royal Trude. Instead of simply describing and tying this fly, I focused on possible variations that a tyer would make to enhance the fly, bringing it up to more "modern-day" materials. The original pattern is a highly effective fly, being fished as a dry (attractor), wet fly. and streamer; the variation is able to be fished this way, too. Other common flies this pattern can represent include terrestrials, stoneflies, caddis, and drakes. Current versions of this fly are also well-known; the Lime Trude won a One-Fly contest, thus solidifying this pattern for years to come. Featured in this tutorial are D102BL dry fly hooks by Allen Fly Fishing (http://www.allenflyfishing.com/d102bl... these hooks are excellent for a variety of dry fly patterns. A second product featured is the cape by Clearwater Hackle (http://www.clearwaterhackle.com/capes/); this product is some of the best available on today's market. Thanks for viewing this fly tying tutorial for the Royal Trude and Variation; please leave and comments or questions on this YouTube page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

45. Skinny Nelson and variations - During this fly tying tutorial, I decided to give detailed tying instructions for Tracy Peterson's "Skinny Nelson," plus a few variations of the pattern (including a great one for midges). This pattern was originally developed for skinny water (as a baetis or midge imitation), but has since become known for its powers in the deep, primarily due to the addition of a tungsten bead. Popular species to fish for with this pattern include trout, grayling, steelhead, and salmon. In the second part of this video, I show and explain a number of ways to vary this pattern, which adds a lot more to the pattern. Please note that I chose to tie this on a standard-shanked hook, which is more representational of the flies in my area. I do mention a 1xl hook during the tutorial, which may better represent insects in your area. Speaking of hooks, the one I recommend for this pattern (and many other nymphs) is the W502 by Allen Fly Fishing. Both this and its counterpart (the W520BL barbless model) are excellent hooks that help to get the fly down quickly. Check out this model and others @: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/w502-wet-fly-nymph/ Thanks for viewing this fly tying tutorial; feel free to leave comments/questions on this YouTube page, or you can email me at: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

49. Fluttering Little Black Stonefly - Hans Stephenson of Dakota Angler & Outfitter ties a Fluttering Black Stonefly. The CDC split winging technique gives the appearance of the fluttering wing pairs of stoneflies. While the the fly in this video was tied to match the Early Black Stoneflies, the coloration can be adapted to other stonefly species. This style of fly is an excellent imitation of fluttering yellow sally stoneflies, when tied with a yellow body, red egg sack, and light yellow or cream colored CDC. For the early little black stoneflies, tie this pattern in size 14-18. A strong fine diameter thread make a big difference when tying this pattern. Threads such as Tiemco's 16/0 or Veevus 14/0-16/0 are strong and build very little bulk. Using these threads on this pattern allow the tier to maintain a slender profile. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
