31. Olive Scud Nymph - In this fly tying tutorial, I demonstrate various techniques and methods to tie an Olive Scud Nymph. Scuds are a prolific insect found in spring creeks, thus having various colors and sizes of these in your box will pay dividends towards your fishing. Aside from showing the materials and methods for this scud, I also demonstrate how to burn monofilament eyes if you're going for that realistic look with this fly. Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the N205BL hooks by Allen Fly Fishing. These hooks, their Caddis Pupa & Larva model, have an excellent bend to help represent the scud, plus are barbless. Check out these and more at their website: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/n205bl... In the video, I referenced an online article by Dave Karczynski, in which he interviewed Mat Wagner to discuss scuds. The article can be found at the following link: http://midcurrent.com/flies/all-thing... 33. Golden Stonefly Nymph - This pattern represents various yellow/brown stonefly species found east and west. I had very high success with this pattern on heavily fished streams in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The brown wire really enhances the segmentation with a lifelike color scheme. While a little on the time consuming side to tie, if you break it down to a body, then thorax step tie, then things really pick up steam. Enjoy! - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

34. Simple Stonefly Pattern - A Simple Stonefly Pattern so effective and easy to tie, it should be illegal. This fly is very realistic and because Stonefly Nymphs are in the river year round, trout bite them on sight. I like to tie it with a #8 or #6 hook with a bent shank. This nymph pattern is weighted with lead wire and I use variegated spandex rubber for the tail, legs and antenna. Tying stoneflies is only half the story. My customers catch many big fish with stonefly nymphs like this one every day. If you would like to see just how well this realistic, simple stonefly pattern works for the trout in Colorado, go to http://www.riplips.com for information and booking. 35. Black Jack Steel - Steelhead flies are a blast to tie. They are big, colorful, and look really fun in a fly box. Each spring I reserve a considerable amount of time at the vise for these colorful creations. Among my favorites is the Black Jack Steel. About five years ago I created a trout fly that I named the Black Jack. It is a Prince Nymph variant with a thread body that is coated with Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails as the center piece of this pattern. It has found great success for trout throughout the Western United States. While dabbling at the vise with that fly in mind I came up with a steelhead variation that incorporates a hot pink (or chartreuse) bead, and a Semi-Seal dubbing collar. I have now fished this nymph for steelhead for the past four seasons, and done very well. Give it a try! 36. Pacific Albacore Fly Pattern - Steve Farrar’s Blend is an excellent material – I was new to the saltwater fly tying game and this synthetic winging material a year ago. Not now. I can tell you that different colors of the SF Blend product line exhibit different textures. The vast majority of the Steve Farrar’s blend colors are easy to tie with but a few are in my opinion a little more difficult to work with. The only colors I use that are in the hard-to-work category are the Electric Yellow and Bucktail White. The Electric Yellow is a base material that is too straight and glassy for my tastes, but it has the ultra-bright yellow-chartreuse color I insist on in some flies. The Bucktail White Blend is too crinkled for my tastes, but it incorporates just the right amount of flash and a stark white color just like natural Bucktail (only more durable), so I live with the crinkles. And speaking of 5” – this is a very effective length for a saltwater Pacific albacore fly, although I am quite sure that a smaller fly is more effective when Tuna are keying in on little bait. Really. 37. Ava's Hi-Vis Parachute Adams - Ava's Hi-Vis Parachute Adams is one of the most versatile mayfly dry fly patterns that I fish. I am using an AFF D103BL hook (down-eye, 1X-Long, dry fly hook). Check them out at www.allenflyfishing.com. The super hair body creates a translucent abdomen and with great segmentation. The McFlyLon post allows the fly to be seen in most fishing conditions. I use Dark Barred Ginger rooster cape hackle, I really like the color of the hackle and it elevates the need to use brown/grizzly hackle. The parachute style can resemble an emerging, dun and or spinner mayfly. I have used this pattern on many different types of mayfly hatches and have had success. So bust out your materials and get tying. To view RK's Fly Design complete fly collection Visit www.facebook.com/RKsFlyDesign - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

40. Bise's Buck Tail Pike Muskie Fly - This is a pike and musky fly that I have been working on this spring, with good results. The idea behind the fly is to have a high contrast fly that pushes a decent amount of water while still being castable. With a double hook, weighted head, and articulation the fly swims well. It is designed to trigger strikes via both visual and lateral line stimulation. It can be tied in red/white, black/white, chartreuse/white, or really any color combo you want. Fish this on a sinking line along weed beds and drop offs. It can be fished on a floating line as well with a longer leader for presentations in the top three feet of the water column. MATERIALS: • UV White Buck Tail • Red Buck Tail • Grizzly Hackle • Red Grizzly Hackle • Pearl Flashabou • Arctic Fox Tail • Fish Skull Heads • UTC 140 Red • Dai Riki 4x Long Streamer • Gamakatsu B10S Track: 3 Shades of Black - Hank Williams III, Dubstep remix by the Levitating Elephants http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDugOcdHv-w - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
