43. Hares Ear Nymph - This classic nymph is a must have for all fly anglers in both stillwaters and rivers/streams. It is suggestive of many food sources including mayflies and caddis in traditional sizes and colours, and stoneflies, dragon and damsel in other sizes and colours. A great searching pattern, durable and easy to tie. Here we tie a more or less traditional version, with the addition of some pearl tinsel over the thorax for some extra flash and to suggest an emergence. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

44. Bastard Crab - I call this fly the Bastard Crab because it is my bastardization of a great pattern I picked up from Greg Vincent, who runs H2O Bonefishing on Grand Bahama Island. Greg is a fantastic fly tyer, and ties some productive and great looking flies. I used one of his crab patterns on a trip there in June 2008, and came home and tied my version from memory, with a little bit of a pesonal twist - not as nice a fly as Greg's, but the bastardized version is also very effective. I've caught bonefish, redfish, and tripletail on this pattern so far. I've also seen this type of pattern showing up in numerous other spots, suggesting it is widely effective. This pattern is a variation of the famous Del Brown Merkin crab pattern. I use Puglisi fibers for the body instead of yarn. There is no hackle for claws, only marabou, and the numerous (6 legs for size 2, 5 for size 4) legs are tied in on the hook side of the shank to that they stand up from the fly rather than splay out. The fly does not have to be stripped, the legs and marabou provide plenty of action to a falling or resting fly. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

45. Bonefish Bitters - The Bonefish Bitters has become a standard in and a must have pattern for just about any bonefishing destination. Originated by Craig Mathews of Blue Ribbon flies, the Bonefish Bitters, can be tied in sizes 10-6. The color of the head (the epoxyed bead chain eyes) is typically tinted. Use a tan or brown tinted fly over sand, rubble, or mud bottom. Olive is a good color for fishing over grass. Orange or Pink are great colors for attracting strikes. In this version I use clear UV Resin (Clear Cure Goo or Loon UV Fly Finish) as a substitute for 5 minute epoxy. I have had good luck tinting the head with marking pens after it has been cured with the UV lamp. The Bonefish Bitters is also great when used for Carp. It can be tied slighly larger when used for carp, where it imitates juvenille crayfish and dragonfly nymphs. For carp I like this fly in Rusty Orange, Tan, and Olive tied on a size 4 or 6. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

48. WMD Hot Spot Nymph - The fly in this tutorial is both effective to fish and quick to tie, two of my favorite things to hear! This nymph, known as the WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction for fish?!?), has a relatively simple construction, including a thread body and added hot spot. You can vary the materials, though the easiest change is thread color. I recommend carrying this pattern in a variety of colors and sizes to represent the natural insects in your area. Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the N205BL hooks by Allen Fly Fishing. These hooks, featuring a fine wire and offset bend, are great looking and offer a bunch of possibilities for patterns. You can find them at the following link: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/n205bl-caddis-pupa-and-larva-offset-point/ Thanks for viewing this Two Minute Tying Tutorial; feel free to leave any comments/questions directly on this YouTube page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

49. Hans' Cicada - This fly surprised me, it caught fish on the small streams that I fish in the Black Hills. It brought large trout to the surface when nothing else would. Do they take it for a cicada? I don't know, but it does catch fish. This fly is inspired by the cicada patterns I encountered in New Zealand. I tie it in a size 6 but it can be tied larger or smaller depending on the size of the bugs in your neck of the woods. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

50. Fuller's Crazy Charlie Variant - Calvin from the Ponderay Fly Shop is back on the vise in this month's Creature Feature with a salty little nibble called the Crazy Charlie. This fly's namesake and creator is none other than legendary Bahamian fly fishing guide, Charlie Smith (see the guy who defined fly fishing in the Bahamas). • Hook: Gamakatsu SL11-3H, Size 8 • Stainless Steel Bead Chain Eyes - Small • Larva Lace Nymph Rib - Clear • Wing: Steve Farrar's Flash Blend - Light Pink • Light Pink Thread - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
