1. Squidro - The Squidro fly is an Intruder style fly developed by Scott Howell, the self-proclaimed Skagit Master . His fly achieves a new style never seen before in steelheading by using less bulky rubber legs instead of furs and feathers. In the water, the fly has a large silhouette profile, is more durable, less bulky so it's faster sinking, creates lots of action, and is easier to cast since rubber does not hold water, like furs and feathers do. The color scheme possibilities are endless with this fly so you are allowed to get creative when choosing the rubber leg colors you want for this style fly. Tie one in your favorite colors today, and get swinging for steelhead. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

2. Rubber Legged Beetle - This particular beetle pattern is very easy to tie and fishes extremely well. This fly will stay upright 100% of the time, if tied correctly. The key is to cut the foam shellback a bit wider than the gap of the hook. The AFF D101 hook used here is a little heavier than a typical 1X fine dry fly hook but helps extremely well with keeping the fly upright. The chartreuse foam hot spot helps you keep an eye on your fly and the rubber legs help gives the fly a "bit of life" when on the water. I have the most success with this fly in mid to late summer and fall. I generally search for crushing trout near the banks and cast the fly just in front of there path.
