3. Fluttering Little Black Stonefly - Hans Stephenson of Dakota Angler & Outfitter ties a Fluttering Black Stonefly. The CDC split winging technique gives the appearance of the fluttering wing pairs of stoneflies. While the the fly in this video was tied to match the Early Black Stoneflies, the coloration can be adapted to other stonefly species. This style of fly is an excellent imitation of fluttering yellow sally stoneflies, when tied with a yellow body, red egg sack, and light yellow or cream colored CDC. For the early little black stoneflies, tie this pattern in size 14-18. A strong fine diameter thread make a big difference when tying this pattern. Threads such as Tiemco's 16/0 or Veevus 14/0-16/0 are strong and build very little bulk. Using these threads on this pattern allow the tier to maintain a slender profile. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

4. Ava's Little Pinky - Ava's Little Pinky is my #1 midge pattern that I fish during the winter and early spring months. I am going be tying this midge larva pattern on an Allen Fly Fishing D103S hook between the sizes of 16 through 22. This particular dry fly hook has a straight eye, 1x --long shank and thin wire. This hook is new to the Allen Fly Fishing hook line up and will soon be one of my favorites, show check them out by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com I generally find that in the winter months, the trout tend to pod in specific areas of the river, generally an area with lots of sunlight. These fish become very picky on what they eat. The pink thread and tubing gives the fly great color, segmentation and depth. The UV Clear Fly Finish head gives the fly's thorax a lot of depth and shine. I have had amazing results when using this fly, generally as the end fly in a tandem nymph rigging set-up. Tie some up and see for yourself! Size 16 -- 18 I'll use Midge Tubing Size 20 -- 22 I'll use Micro Tubing. 5. Capercaillie Sculpin - Hook: Kamasan B840 or Partridge JS11 Thread: 8/0 UniThread, white Cone: Silver conehead in the appropriate size Tails: Partridge flank feather barbs Body: Austrailian Opossom, natural Body hackles: Partridge flank feather Front hackle: Capercaillie body feather One of my goto patterns for seatrout on the coasts and bays of Djursland, Denmark. Very easy fly to tie, that fishes well all year around. If you tie the fly to the tippet with a small rapala loop, the fly has an awesome motion in the water. Looks almost like a small sculpin. You can tie them in any size you'd like, but I prefer them large - large as in size 2 or larger. The best hooks for this kind of fly, in my opinion, are the hooks with a large hook gape. I find the TMC 811S and Mustad 34007 to have too small of a hook gape for this kind of pattern. I only used the capercaillie to make a fly that sticks out, and to the best of my knowledge, I don't think there's a saltwater pattern for seatrout that uses these feathers. You can use whatever front hackle you'd like or have available. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

7. Sleeze Burger - Fly tying the Sleeze Burger by fly tyer Kris Keller of Big R Fly Shop Material list Hook: mustad 2xh/4xl size 2 Eyes: dumbell eyes 7/32 Thread: 210 ultra thread Dubbing brush: medium ultra wire Body: black rabbit strips tiger barred rabbit strips black/orange over yellow and mahi green/ black over chartreuse Tail: tiger barred rabbit strips mahi green/ black over chartreuse mfc high voltage lime The Sleeze Burger is a fly I came up with when I moved to Great Falls. It competes with the Rapala. Guys were fishing the Fire Tiger Rapala at Holter like it was going out of style and so I figured I could match it in a fly. We have caught bass, carp, walleye, catfish, rainbows and browns all on this fly. It is more of a warm water fly, imitating a perch but works well on trout too. I've netted perch on more than one occasion belly up but still kicking below Craig. Tell me a big brown won't smack that. With the neon colors, it will make them hit out of aggression. Works great in off colored water! I like to tie it on the leader with a loop and a sink tip line when I am fishing it. It makes it juke, dive and flips that belly up to makes it look like it's wounded or it's jolting after small insects. The key to tying this fly and hooking fish on it is keeping a good hook gap. Whether you're in a pond, lake, stream, or river its something you should definitely slap it and strip it. - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher

8. WMD Hot Spot Nymph - The fly in this tutorial is both effective to fish and quick to tie, two of my favorite things to hear! This nymph, known as the WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction for fish?!?), has a relatively simple construction, including a thread body and added hot spot. You can vary the materials, though the easiest change is thread color. I recommend carrying this pattern in a variety of colors and sizes to represent the natural insects in your area. Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the N205BL hooks by Allen Fly Fishing. These hooks, featuring a fine wire and offset bend, are great looking and offer a bunch of possibilities for patterns. You can find them at the following link: http://www.allenflyfishing.com/n205bl-caddis-pupa-and-larva-offset-point/ Thanks for viewing this Two Minute Tying Tutorial; feel free to leave any comments/questions directly on this YouTube page, or email me: tcammisa@gmail.com - fly fishing video channel - Global FlyFisher
