Pete,

as always, it is delightful to see your flies and in this case this beautiful ( Jay ?) vise too. When I were a fish, your flies would surely be amongst only a few others on the top of my table.... Wink

Cheers,

Jan

Hi Pete,

I am really as clueless as curious how you tied them, is there any chance to get a little instruction how to tie them......?

Cheers

A simple and effective trick to cut down on inadvertent blood letting during the tying process...
FYI: cut and slip a small piece of old phly line over the point... [thanks' Faruk!]

a sparse clump of any buggy looking phur will do... [in this case, the dark side of a buck tail... raccoon or whatever is handy]...
black bead eyez held on the burnt end of 30# mono and welded in place with Bug-Bond]
some moose mane to suggest buggy antennas...

'palmered Whiting Coq de Leon Dark Pardo...
buzzz cut to phlatten the top...

several overlayed Coq de Leon Dark Pardo pheatherz were Bug-Bonded into place to imply the carapace...
a touch of additional palmered pheather to complete the insinuendo...

'same notion but with some Whiting Bird Fur [grizzly]...
any buggy marabou should suffice nicely...

playin' around with lighting, angles, and exposure to bring out the Damascus...

Hi Pete,

what a generous answer to my request, thanks a lot.
Besides your amazing tied and photographed step-by-step, it is really a joy to see your Faruk vice again.

Cheers

Pete great looking ties as always.
And beautiful vices, I would love to see your collection.
I hope to get a Damasteel jaw for my J vice this year.

I like the eyes on them. great idea, I will have to steal that idea with the bead and UV cured finish. I would think you did them yourself.

Thanks for the tying how to. I will have to try this pattern.

Charlie...
The Damascus jawz are something special...
There is the possibility that Jay may attend the Int'l Fly Tying Symposium in Somerset NJ this November...
'you could meet Jay and collect your treasure...
I'm planning on being there with Faruk Ekich...
a GREAT show with GOLDEN opportunities...
