Wisconsin fishing opener was this weekend, so I continued the tradition and went out with my parents fishing . It was too windy to cast on the lake that day with my flyrod, and it wasn't to practical so I was using the spinning rod that day. Unfortunatly most of the fish we caught were small and it was damn cold. Still had a good time spending time w/ my dad and our dog. Unfortunatly my mom, ,who usualy fishes opener, didn' t make it (partly my fault, long story). Anyway I got out to the troutstream that night and hooked into a few decent bookies one about a foot long, relative to the typical brookie caught in these smaller streams, about 5-8". The next day I got out fishing for bass and panfish, hooked into some nice fish. A few bass over 18", and a crapie that was 14.5". Anyway, here are some pictures.. I'm to damn tired to write anything else, maybe later.

Sunrise, opening day.

Small trout, but a gem.

Large trout for these waters...

Windy day on the lake, dad and dog.

The Laregest bass I caught, 20"+ (released)
caught on yellow and white deciever

14 and a half incher on fly!
caught on yellow and white deciever

peace,
kirk o.

Kirk,

Great pictures! Thanks for posting. Too bad about the wind and the cold weather. Don't we all just hate that?

Here the spring has really come. Actually it's more like summer. We went directly from late winter to early summer. But fishing sure has become a lot better. No more skunked trips right now it seems.

Martin

Thanks, pretty crazy weather eh? fortunately for me that Sunday it warmed up and calmed down quite a bit (well as you can see in the pictures). Spring here has been unseasonably warm as well, spare that weekend. Now it's already back into the 70's (°F). Pretty crazy...

I'll have to check out that podcast. I can only dream of hooking into a 30" trout!

Oh yeah, one more thing I was wondering, has anyone else out here gotten tennis elbow from casting? I've got it pretty bad a week ago. I woke up in the middle of the night in stifling pain and had to make a trip to the hospital, they diagnosed it as "tennis elbow" (yeah.. really manly) gave me some pain killers and sent me on my way. The doc figured it could be casting and possibly Frisbee since I don't play tennis. I'm just wondering so if no one has I can just blame Frisbee. Either way It's a bummer, but I don't think it will stop me from fishing, Maybe I’ll just take that vicadin before I go next time. lol

Well I'm out.. Tight lines,

Kirk o

I fished a pond in Sperryville, Virginia today and picked up about a seven pound Largemouth on a hair bug. The guy is sending me some pics that I will post (if I figure out how). I also caught about ten Bluegills, all just under ten inches.

Here is a 24 inch Largemouth I caught on a hair bug. Oh, yes. I'm 6 foot two inches tall just for comparison.

Here is a liittle bit better picture of the Largemouth. If my hands weren't so damn huge the fish would look even bigger. She was also released.
