Hi GFF readers.

I need some help regarding fly-line weight and the AFTM-system.

After a 20-year pause I’m taking up fly-fishing again. One of my problems is that i have forgotten the AFTM-rating on my old lines. On this website I found this statement: ”The AFTM-system used to describe weights of fly lines, specifies the weight of the front 30 feet of line”. But how much weight are we talking about?

I would like to classify my lines. Any help is appreciated.

We have a bunch of articles on lines here on GFF.

There is an AFTM-table in this one on shooting heads.

All our line article can be found through the keyword fly lines
