A bit further up DeBruce road, the Willowemoc
shrinks in size but offers excellent fishing.

Wulff Run in front of the Catskill Fly Fishing
Center and Museum is a very popular spot
with well educated trout.

An upstream look at the head of Hendrickson's
Pool. Can you say "current seam".

A nice view of the tail of Hendrickson as it
leads into Horse Brook Run.


Cairns Pool on the Beaverkill. The gin clear
water and abundance of trout make
this a very heavily fished area.

A lovely view from Painter's Bend. If you
look closely, you'll see someone
fishing the inside of the bend.

There are plenty of spots on the Beaverkill
where the bottom is comprised of larger
rocks that can make wading challenging.

Brings back exciting memories of fresh water streams and learning to tie flies . Picky fish on the beaverkill helped me once moved to Florida... sanibel island area . Applying that I learned how fish key in on certain forage in saltwater as well . I dearly miss hendricksons pool where I caught a 28 in brown on a teeny nymph pattern.

I live in florida now but I have spent countless hours on hendricksons pool. what memories what a fishery. if anyone needs advice i know the insects personally. great pics

thanx for posting these pix!! i have been living in sarasota, florida, since '82 and was showing my son thomas some pix of the beaverkill and my beloved painter's bend, and discovered this site!!

i was unemployed for the summer of '80 and spent almost every day on painter's bend...

great pix, and millions of memories!!

Hi Bob, Your web page is outstanding and it shows all the places I fish on the Beaverkill and area rivers and streams. I caught my first trout on the Beaverkill standing on Piano Rock at Hendrickson Pool .This area I was the person that developed the newer version of the Thorax Dry Fly that is the most popular tied these days and during this time I develope Overton's Wonder Wax .. I now live in Libby, Montana that is much like the Roscoe area .
So I thank you for what you have done here...Glenn Overton

2010 on the Global FlyFisher

We have passed yet another New Year's evening, and can now write 2011. So how was 2010 for GFF? We celebrated our 16th birthday in 2010. We served 12 million pages to 850,000 people. We published 66 articles. We added more than 500 videos. Still we think we're lagging a bit.

Charles Weiss

Charles contacted me as a result of having seen our long-running series on fishy artists, and after having seen his fish carvings I found him more than worthy as a participant. Charles also paints and draws - cartoons and caricatures in particular.
