A solo kayak fishing trip to a remote stretch of coast in south-central Oman. Lots of baby camels, followed by a beautiful morning with fresh brewed coffee, a Garrison Keillor podcast, and gentle surf. After breakfast, I set off with kayak and an eight weight to troll small clouser patterns for pompano. It was a perfect weekend!

Just another day on the flats. No fish could ever replace the bonefish. That being said it can be fun to target these over looked species of the shallows. It is amazing to see how different a fight a blacktip shark dishes versus one from the cuts and bluewater. Its almost as if the two are different species. Blacktips of the flat are bulldogs. Blacktips of the deep are complete athletes. Still these bulldogs put up a fun fight!

An afternoon fish hunt aboard the bone collector. Sam's 7lb bonefish was the highlight. With a lemon shark seen moments earlier, we decided to focus on a safe release rather then digging out the video camera below deck. We hope to begin tagging these bonefish, to help better understand how often a released fish discharging pheromones will become lunch once in deeper water on the low tide. Satellite tags on mature bonefish is the next step in learning about these prehistory ghosts of the flats. On these particular conditions we had a full moon high tide and wind working together.

Snuck out for an hour or so this afternoon. Perfect tide to jump some black tips. Nothing like bowing to a somersaulting fish. Its a amazing to see how powerful these fish are. I spotted three fish in all. The feed consisted of two sharks duking it out for the fly. http://onehookup.blogspot.com/
