The US company REC, primarily known for its rod guides and reel seats, has acquired the manufacturing assets of Richard Wheatley and already commenced production in the US.
Feb 2nd 2013/mjas already told here, the US company REC Components took over production already back in 2012 and will continue producing fly-fishing accessories under the Wheatley brand.
The production now takes place in the US in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, and REC Component's President Alan Gnann says:
- REC is honored to assume responsibility for the manufacture and global sales of the entire Richard Wheatley, Ltd. product line under this time-honored, heritage brand.
So the Richard Wheatley brand and products are safe for now, and will be available world wide from REC and its distributors and dealers, and the Whealey products can be found in REC's web shop along with the rest of the REC catalog.
