The Global FlyFisher
Simply the Best Place to go for Online Fly Fishing and Fly Tyinghttp://globalflyfisher.com/node/39772
In an odd way the highlight of this video is the final poor quality Skype conversation, which takes place between the three main characters, Prescott Smith, Siggi Haugur and Tuqui Viscarro. They are all fishing guides, but with very different backgrounds and from very different parts of the world: Bermuda, Iceland and Argentina. But as we have just seen in the video, they can conclude that their attitude towards fishing, nature, clients and life as a whole is amazingly identical.
"The same shit under the sun", as Icelandic Siggi so eloquently puts it.
And in many ways it is. And then again it isn't at all.
Of course there's a huge difference between the life of these three guides, taking out clients for some very different fishing in very different parts of the world, but the way film maker RC Cone has portrayed these characters (and that's meant in the kindest use of the term), you can see how similar their life philosophy is and how they look at their work as fly-fishing guides in a larger perspective and as an effort to get people engaged in the preservation of the environment through fishing.
The video is short - 20 minutes - but beautifully filmed and edited and containing some really excellent and quotable soundbytes from the participants as well as some thrilling and exiting fishing. There's casting, hooking, fighting and landing and the fish rising to take a fly in the clear water, but this is not fish porn with emphasis on the trophy hunt. This is condensed fishing philosophy in a great visual package.
You can buy this video for 4 USD. Yes. Four dollars! Thanks to the possibilities of online delivery of video content, the video is available for download for that small an amount.
Double it and you get a better quality and add further two dollars for the full HD version, which is highly recommended.
You can also go for "The Gold Package", which is this video and RC Cone's video Breathe - both in HD - a digital booklet and some extra music performed by Charlie Smith (of Crazy Charlie fame). All this can be had for only 20 USD, which is way less than what an ordinary DVD costs, and is well worth the price. You get a link to a download, and can fetch the whole bunch of files to your local computer, ready to be watched on any device of your choice.
