Pavo Nymph

Tying the Pavo Nymph

Heavy on the peacock and killer in the streams. Peacock is a favorite material for many flies for a good reason, it gets results. Years ago, I was fishing a lake in Northern Alberta with a friend. He was using a Halfback nymph and cleaning house on the stocked rainbow trout. Meanwhile I was just catching a few trout. I switched up the the peacock heavy Halfback and was immediately in business. This nymph uses a shorter scud hook with a little more peacock, but has produced some equally great days on the water.

You can tie this either with a brass or tungsten bead, or even sans bead if needed.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
