Frenchie Nymph

The Frenchie is a heavy nymph that has been gaining popularity over the years especially with competition anglers. The fly is commonly tied on a jig hook with a slotted tungsten bead, but today we are tying a more traditional presentation.

You can use brass or tungsten beads to weight the fly. Use tungsten and additional wraps of lead to really weight the fly. For the thorax, you can experiment using different colors. I like to use contrasting colors for the hotspot and the thorax. The bright spots among the drab natural colors seem to be a great trigger to get lethargic trout to strike.

Thanks to Mike for the additional footage and wild trout photos.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
