Tav's Big Mac
The Big Mac was designed by John Tavenner for fishing the San Juan River, however fisherman soon realized this pattern would work well for many other fisheries around the US. This pattern is an annelid imitator, and will mimic those small red worms that riddle most water systems. Trout gorge themselves on them, especially at the San Juan River. This fly is very effective, and relatively easy to tie. Not the easiest pattern out there, but due to its effectiveness, its worth the extra effort.
Here is a list of materials I used on the fly.
Hook: Diachi 1270 size 20
Thread: UTC Ultra Thread 70 in Red
Ribbing: Micro Tubing in Gray
Dubbing: superfine Dubbing in Black
Cement: Solarez "Bone Dry" UV curing resin

Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
