Classic: Few flies are as classical as the Red Tag, which was originated as a dry fly for grayling, but has been adapted to many other kinds of fishing. The fly dates back to the 1850's where it came out of the vice of Martyn Flynn. This variation is for sea run browns.

Hook Traditional wet fly hook size 8 or 10, Kamasan B170 or B175 are good choices
Tying thread 8/0 red, brown or black according to taste
Tag/tail Red wool yarn
Rib Copper wire
Body Peacock herl, 4-6 pieces depending on desired thickness
Hackle Soft, brown hen
Head Tying thread
