Juvinile: This is a very simple fly imitating the caddis larva. Some may call it realistic fly, some will say impressionistic, but no matter what, the originator says with 100% certainty that it's a killer pattern and he has caught lots of fish with it in many different places.

Hare's Ear Bug

Bugger: Fished actively over sea weed and its likely to be mistaken for a gammarus. Same thing in a lake. Dead drifted or fished using a lift in a stream, it looks like a tumbling scud or cress bug or even a hatching caddis. What the fish think, I don't know, but it's a fact that they find it edible.

Materials

Hook Curved nymph hook, size 8-12
Bead Copper bead
Thread Black 8/0
Rib Copper wire
Body Black floss
Wing buds Crystal Flash
Thorax Peacock herl

Tying instructions

Slide the bead over the hook and super glue in place
Cover the hook with thread
Tie in a rib in the rear of the hook
Tie in floss in the rear of the hook
Wind rib and floss forwards. Leave space for the thorax
Tie down and trim
Tie in a couple of bits of Crystal Flash. Keep them short
Tie in a couple of strands of peacock herl
Wind them forwards 2-3 turns
Tie down and trim
Whip finish and varnish

Danish Pastry Fly
