Our first mullets

A difficult vegetarian: Since the 1960's the mullets have visited the Danish and South Swedish waters from late May to late October. They feed on green weed, are easily scared and do not pay interest to flies - most of the time. Impossible - but in 2005 Kasper Mühlbach hooked one fish.

Hook Straight eye streamer size 6-4-2 (like the Daiichi 1750 or Tiemco 911S)
Weight A few wraps of lead substitute
Tying thread 8/0 to suit body color
Eyes Black plastic eyes or bead chain
Tail Arctic fox or similar plus a bit of flash
Rear body Holographic tinsel
Front body STF fibers spun in a dubbing loop
Head Body material combed back over the eyes

Heads

This is the end that counts to to most anglers: where the mouth is and where the fly is supposed to go. All these fish opened theirs over a hook, and they paid for it with a portrait. Pictures of fish from the very small sand eel to the very large steelhead.

Martin's Mundane Shrimp

Another simple, three-material fly. This time a shrimp, well suited for seatrout and probably fine for a number of other saltwater species not least bonefish. Super simple to tie and with easily accessible and cheap materials.
