Too deep to walk through, this gorge marks the end of our fishing day. What lies upstream? We may find out one day.

Very clear & deceptively deep water in this small NZ stream. Two steps to his right & the angler would be up to his waist.

Casting is difficult beneath the enclosing willow trees but the 4lb trout make it worthwhile. We are only 1 minute walk from our house in town.

It may be a single small flower but it adds to the enjoyment of the days fishing. Tough going amongst the streamside rocks.

4 lb is the average size of trout in this very small NZ stream. Fish size has increased over the years with the advent of catch & release.
