The banks of the Mary Burn are open like this for 20km however the wind can cause some problems. Unseen, on the far side of the valley, are 2 other larger rivers, the Tekapo and the Greys.

Despite Roberts efforts this trout made it to safety around a boulder in the shingle drop-off on the far side.
