Slinkies
One of the most effective methods of drifting a fly through deep pools in Great Lakes steelhead rivers is to use a slinky. You can buy slinkies from a shop, but you will pay a premium. The components are pretty cheap and they are very easy to make at home.

The only knot you need... almost
This is definitely going to get me in trouble! But I guarantee you that if you learn this knot you will be able to get very far in almost all kinds of flyfishing. Use this for your daily knotting and use loops for the rest (backing to fly line, fly line to leader), and you will be able to make it through many, many fishing days.

The Overtaker
A small black tube fly inspired by the classical Undertaker and flies like the Green Butt. This small fly shows that bube flies do not have to be large. It's petite, it's black and it's sexy with a small hotspot.
