Skunked
A wise friend of mine once said after a day of unproductive fishing: "That's why it's caled fishing and not catching". True enough. We often fish without catching, and while most of us have come to terms with this, we mostly also want to turn fishless days into fish-rich ones.

1st spring trip
Just a few days ago we ventured on our first spring trip. Yes, this is mid-March, and we usually fish much earlier than that, but cold winter weather and ice covered water has kept us from the coast until now. I spotted this particular day in the weather forecast a week in advance. It begged for a fishing trip!

Hen Hackles and Wet Flies
Awhile back, I received a shipment of hen necks and saddles from Whiting Farms. The saddles struck me with their intense colors and solid web, then necks with their stem length and shortish barbs. These feathers were perfect for the wet flies I was working on.
