New Zealand trout are among the purest remaining strains in the world. These fish are all naturally stream spawned. This is catch & release at its most productive.

We had about 3 hrs fishing before the wind came up. Both large brown & rainbow trout were caught. That bend is in an 8wt rod with 7.5lb tippet with #14 tungsten bead nymph. The fish are landed and released as quickly as possible.

The very prolific 3lb to 5lb browns & rainbows use the willow root snags & undercut banks to make capture difficult. I landed only 1 fish from 6 hookups.
