First a foremost a DVD covering 10 very neat and fairly easy patterns tied for chalkstream use, but also very useful in many other waters. Accompanied by a 30-page booklet with some general tying advice and supplementary instructions on each pattern.

This is a fly-tying DVD covering 10 very useful patterns for stream fishing. The subtitle does mention chalkstreams, but the flies are very generic and will be very useful in all other kinds of streams and even stillwaters.
Mayflies and More
And don't let the mayflies in the title fool you. The flies are a mixed bag with some mayfly patterns, but also a daddy longlegs, a couple of nymphs and even a Wooly Bugger. Altogether very useful flies.
Chris Sandford is a British fly angler and tyer, whose presentation style is indeed very British, but also very entertaining and educating. The flies are - as already mentioned - rather straightforward and even though there are a couple of complex flies in the bunch and a few intricate steps in some of the patterns, most tyers, even starters, will be able to follow the clear instructions and also pick up a tip or several underway.
Altogether very useful flies. The booklet adds further to the already easy-to-understand instructions, and you get a printed materials list plus some written instructions as well as a few still images of some of the tying steps.
The concept is simple and the execution of both video and booklet is excellent. The flies are sufficiently different to enable Sandford to demonstrate a number of different techniques, but at the same time consistent in the meaning that six or a dozen of each of these flies will make an almost perfect stream fishing flybox for most trout streams around the world.
