GFF video/DVD review
Destination Trout - New Zealand
Instructor, narrator, producer etc.: Intrepid Angler
Reviewed by Martin Joergensen If you have plans to go to New Zealand or just want a confirmation that New Zealand is a worthwhile destination to put on your list of places to fish before you lay down your rods, this is a DVD you want to watch.
It's some years old (from 2006), and not quite up to today's standards with regards to video quality, but it has an amazing running time of three hours and a very systematic coverage of both well known and lesser know locations in New Zealand, offering a very thorough coverage and a mouth wetting appetizer for anyone with NZ dreams.
It's not a classy production with fantastic compositions and intricate camera angles like Nick Reygaert's Source NZ DVD, but a very top-to-bottom and almost plain production.
It still manages to get the message across very well, and first of all leaves you with a lot of specific knowledge as well as a visual impression of the different locations. For anybody going to NZ this is a smorgasbord of fishing, an a la carte menu from which you can choose and pick the places you want to visit. It also offers the "usual" tourist impressions for the viewer: bungee jumping, mobil homes, bikes, jet boats, four wheel drives on back country roads, but first of all it's a list of named and well documented places where you can fish.
The ones of us, who have no specific plans of going to New Zealand, there is three hours of solid fishing entertainment to get for 25 USD. Talk about value for money.
This won't go over in history as an epic fishing video, but as a travel planner and as fireplace fishing it's solid and useful.
