By Søren Glerup

George F.Grant
George F.Grant's flies have a special hair hackle and a special body.

Soeren Glerup is a member of the obviously very active group of fishers in Aalestrup Lystfiskerklub/Forening. He is also a member of Nordisk Fluefisker Raad in Danmark - the Danish branch of the Nordic Fly Fishers Council.

Soerens first submission is about George F.Grant's very beautiful and special flies - flies that I have also seen by Steven Fernandez. The pattern contains two radically different tying techniques.

Soeren can be contacted via e-mail on S.Glerup@post2.tele.dk

Flatwings

One style of streamer that is very effective here in Maine in the smaller casting sizes, is the flatwing streamer. The feature that defines this style, the flat wing, normally consists of a flank feather from some species of duck tied flat on top of the hook, instead of in the classic "upright" manner that the classic New England Streamer patterns specify.

Tour de France

GFF partner Martin Joergensen has let one of his favorite sports events, the bicycling race Tour de France, inspire a way of tying flies. He argues why tying many identical flies can be a good thing - and can be better than tying many different flies.
