GFF Webauthor and coowner Martin Joergensen

Danish? Ain't that something you eat?
A small selection of Joergensen's FF stuff I am one of the creators and web masters of The Global Fly Fisher. The other originator is Steven Schweitzer. and we partner together with Bob Petti and Bob Skehan, who originated the Raske's New England Streamer Page, now merged into GFF.
I live in Copenhagen, Denmark (That's København, Danmark in Danish). Just for your information; Denmark is that little country in Scandinavia, just north of Germany. We brought you H.C.Andersen, The Little Mermaid, Danish pastry, a real queen (Magrethe II) and many other things. And we offer some of the world's best fishing for sea run brown trout both in fresh and salt water.

Serious (and relevant according to my friend Henning) facts:
- I'm an avid fly tyer and fly fisher
- I have written articles in Danish and International fishing and fly tying magazines
- I have contributed to fly tying and fly fishing books in both Danish and English
- I have tied at shows in Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands and the US
- I have spoken on many occasions in clubs both home and abroad

Off beat facts:
Here Joergensen ties his flies - I'm a computer and Internet freak - and proud of it
- I raise chickens for eggs, feathers and meat (that priority)
- I'm a biologist (Still short of a theses, though), specializing in arctic meiofauna
- I'm an avid cook cooks for the family 9 out of 10 meals
- I'm a sucker for cold weather I love winter fishing
- I use a Surgeons loop for 90% of my flies. Second comes the Trilene knot third the Palomar.
- I use Drennan Double Strength for all my tippets
- I use home made furled leaders for much of my fishing. These are *not* braided, but furled AKA twined. Lately the old fashioned knottede leader has regained popularity, though
- I relax in front of my computer making this web site on fly fishing and fly tying together with Steve Schweitzer, Bob Skehan, Bob Petti, and contributors from all over the world.
- I also read piles of books.
- I try not to go fishing without my Lawrence Waldron ceramic hook sharpener

Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin, Many thanks for the kind comments on my book "Fly Fishing the Great Western Rivers". Life is good. I'm going fishing today near my home in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Maybe you and I can fish together someday. For the time being, Tight Lines! Ralph Kylloe

    Bob,

I have no current plans regarding the US. I'd love to go - I have a bunch of people that I want to visit and places that I want to fish, but time and money keeps me from going as often as I wish.

    Such is life...

Martin, great site! I shall have to return many times to read it all. Nice work. When will you be crossing the Atlantic to the U.S. again?...Warm regards,..Bob

Did you find the above interesting?
People who looked at the above also looked at:

    Flexible bench

German Jan-Ole Willers wanted to be able to clear his vice, tools and materials off the dining table for such unimportant events as lunch and dinner. That made him think out and build his own inexpensive portable fly tying bench. You can do the same.

    Knots for the fly fisherman

The discussion of knots seems endless. We probably never will know exactly which knot is the best, and the ultimate knot has not yet been tied. We list the following knots in a knot table and show how to tie them one by one -- with a little comment attached.

    Illustrated knot table

A test in the print magazine Fly Fisherman showed the Trilene and the Orvis knot to be equally strong and on top of that said that they were able to maintain 100% of the line strength. I really have my doubt if that will hold for all types and thicknesses of line, but still it does prove that these could be the knots of choice for the concerned fly fisher.

    The Copper Bully

No sea trout box should be without a small Gammerus imitation, and the Copper Bully is one of the most efficient and easily tied ones. Consisting of very few materials in this version, it hardly gets any easier. It can also be a scud or a cress bug in a tight spot.
