Adding a flash tail

By Martin Joergensen

This simple method is also applicable for many other materials and situations. One that immediately comes to mind is the precise placement of tinsels or floss.

1

Press the center of the material against the tying thread with the index finger of the left or the right hand so that it forms an open V.

2

Press the two legs of the V together and grab them with your opposite hand.

3

Pull the material up along the tying thread and over the hook, bringing it to lie flat over the shank just behind the last turn of thread.

4

Pass the tying thread over the material just behind the front bend of the former V. Tie it down with two more tight turns.
The tail is ready for a trim.
