Messy and patchy

It might look like a mess, but this oddly colored Whiting saddle was selected for its extremely fine hackle, suitable for the smallest of flies down to hook sizes in the 20's, 22's and 24's. I rarely tie in these sizes, and having a selection of badger, cree and uniformly colored feathers on one skin is actually perfect for me.
