Pine Squirrel Leech
This fly, the Pine Squirrel Leech, is a great small leech pattern that can be fished as a nymph or a streamer. You can tie this with the eyes like I show you or just use a cone-head, your choice. Thanks for watching and please go to http://holsingersflyhop.com for all you need to tie this fly.
Clown Egg, Holsinger's Fly Shop
Here is one of my brown trout patterns I use during the salmon run in NY every fall, the Clown Egg. I tie this pattern using McFly Foam, by far the easiest material to use to make a single egg. If your looking for the Clown Egg package just click on this link http://holsingersflyshop.com to go to our website for the materials. Thanks again for watching and please take the time to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on Facebook
The Patriot (Variant)
Here is my version of the classic Charlie Meck fly, The Patriot. This is my go to dry fly for late summertime fishing. I tie this in a size 18 to chase the native trout in some of the local mountain streams. Charlie I believe ties this in a 12 or 14 and puts calf tail wings on it and uses the fly as an indicator by dropping a nymph or wet off of it. Like always please check out our website at http://holsingersflyshop.com and don't forget to like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel.
This is the wet fly I used in my latest instructional video on wet fly fishing, fishing small streams. I was messing around at the vice one night trying to come up with something new. You know reinventing the mouse trap. This is what I came up with that night. My first trip out with it went really well and it has now taken a permanent place in my fly box. Like always please go to our website http://holsingersflyshop.com for all the materials needed to tie this fly and others. Also please subscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. Tight lines and thanks for watching.
Introduction to Wet Fly Fishing, Fishing Small Streams
This is my second instructional on wet fly fishing. This time I take a look at fishing in a small stream and cover issues like leader set up and how to approach a hole to fish. I hope these videos are helpful to you and if you like them please subscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. As always please check out our website at http://holsingersflyshop.com for all your fly fishing needs.
Vladi Worm, The Condom Worm
Here is a variation on a great nymph pattern, the Vladi Worm. This pattern was made to be fished in the Czech or Polish Style. This is a great nymph to get you down deep. Like a lot of my patterns I tried to show you a different way to tie a standard pattern using different techniques. Please subscribe to your YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. The material to tie these and other patterns are available on our web at http://holsingersflyshop.com
Partridge and Flash Wet Fly
This time I'm tying a great attractor fly, the Partridge and Flash Wet Fly. I've been fishing wets a lot lately so that's what I've been tying lately and I'm passing some of those on to you. Please check out or website at http://holsingersflyshop.com and don't forget to subscribe to us on YouTube and like us on Facebook. Thanks again for watching.
Steelie Blue Steelhead Jig
In this video I bring you a nice steelhead jig that's gonna get you down to the bottom quickly and be perfect for a Czech Nymph or highsticking method of fishing. Blue is the last color that trout and salmon can see as they are on their way to spawn and die making this the perfect color for steelhead fishing. Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe to my YouTube Channel and like us on Facebook. Dont forget to check out our website. http://holsingersflyshop.com
This is a fly I picked up from a guide friend of ours, Tom Doman of Penns Creek Guide Service, for fishing the Little Black Stone Fly and Grannom hatches which come off at the same time. This is a great pattern to cover both of these hatches with one fly. Like always please subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. Visit http://holsingersflyshop.com for all your fly tying needs and thanks for watching.
Grannom Dry Fly
Here is one of my favorite looking flies, the Grannom Dry Fly. Here in Central Pennsylvania in April we have some great hatches of Grannom Caddis and this is the pattern I use for it. The wings on this are a little difficult but not impossible and I explain you to do them here. If you like these videos please subscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. As always the material used to tie these flies can be found on our website. Http://holsingersflyshop.com
Quill Gordon Wet Fly
Here is another traditional wet fly, the Quill Gordon. This is a great spring hatch here in our region and this is a great pattern to match it. Also it's a very simple pattern to tie. All the material needed to tie this pattern you can find at our website, http://holsingersflyshop.com. and please take the time to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. Thanks for watching.
March Brown Wet Fly
Here is a great traditional wet fly pattern, the March Brown. The March Brown is one of the first wet fly patterns I learned to tie and fish. In this video I stray from the standard recipe a little bit to show that your can get similar results by using what you have when you don't have what the standard calls for. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. As always the material used in this video can be purchased from our website, http://holsingersflyshop.com.
A Beginners Guide To Wet Fly Fishing,
This is an instructional video on how to fish with wet flies brought to you from http://holsingersflyshop.com. Wet fly fishing is a very productive method of fishing that is often overlooked and and rarely taught anymore with the success of nymph fishing and the visual excitement of dry fly fishing. When I was originally taught to fly fish nearly 30 years ago wet fly fishing was the method I learned and fished fished for many years. I hope this video helps you understand the sport a little better and thanks for watching.
Big Thompson Special
I'm back with another nymph pattern. The Big Thompson Special. This is a pattern I saw in a recent Fly Tyer Magazine and tweaked it to my liking. I think you will like it too. Experiment for yourself with different colors and find what works for you. Don't forget to check us out on the web at http://holsingersflyshop.com
Here's another nymph pattern from http://holsingersflyshop.com, the Lightning Bug. This is a neat little pattern that is very easy to tie with only a few pieces of material. Don't forget all the material to buy this fly is available at our website http://holsingersflyshop.com and please take the time to like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
Soft Hackle Sulfur
Here is my Soft Hackle Sulfur pattern. I fish this fly as a dropper in my nymph leader during the sulfur hatch and I also drop it off a dry or spinner pattern and do real well with it. Please take the time to subscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. Also all the material to tie this fly is available on our website at http://holsingersflyshop.com. Tight lines and thanks for watching.
Caddis Pupa Emerger
I've been trying to come up with my own way to tie a Caddis Pupa and this is what I came up with, my Caddis Pupa Emerger. I love the looks of this fly and it is actually a lot easier to tie than it may look. Don't be afraid to try tying this pattern. Don't forget all the material needed to tie this fly is available at the shop @ http"//holsingersflyshop.com and please take the time to like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel for all our latest updates.
Tabou Caddis, Holsinger's Fly Shop
Here is a slightly different way to tie the Tabou Caddis than the standard pattern. I tie it slightly different in that I leave out the ribbing and use some extra chickabou feathers to get the look that I desired. That's the great thing about fly tying you may not always have the "standard" materials or know all the techniques but that doesn't mean the fish will like it any less. Hope you enjoy it and you can get the Soft Hackle Chickabou capes to tie this fly on our website @ http://holsingersflyshop.com. And as always please like us on facebook and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
Little Black Stone
Here is one of my favorite early spring patterns in my area, the Little Black Stone. I fish this pattern year around and tie it in sizes 12-16. Last season there was a hatch of these coming off on the stream I was fishing on the first day of trout season in the middle of April. As always thanks for watching my videos and please check us out on the web @ http://holsingersflyshop.com for a full line of tying material and more of my videos. Also don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook.
This time I bring you an awesome looking Spey fly by Jeff Wimer called the "Super Zug". I really liked the look of this and decided I needed a few in my box and thought I should share it with you too. If you like my videos please sebscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. All the material to tie this fly and more is available on our website @ http://holsingersflyshop.com so please stop by and check us out.
Czech Style Heavy Nymph
This is a simpler way to tie a Czech style fly capable of getting your line down quickly. The profile of this fly is very similar to a woven nymph just simpler and quicker to tie. Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe to my YouTube channel and like us on Facebook. Also don't forget to check us out on our website @ http://holsingersflyshop.com for all your fly tying needs.
Here is and awesome looking nymph, the Olive Psycho. This is one of my latest creations and I think it's gonna be a killer fly. One of the great things about fly tying is you are only limited by your own imagination when creating new flies. The material used to tie this is available on our website at http://holsingersflyshop.com so please check us out. Also you can like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Golden Pheasant Tail Nymph
This is one of my favorite "generic" nymph patterns, the "Golden Pheasant Tail Nymph". I love using golden pheasant tail in my flies. I love the color it makes when wrapped around a hook it just has a nature color to it. Check is out at our website @ http://holsingersflyshop.com and don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on Facebook.
