GFF Summit 2008

It's time for the yearly gathering of GFF-readers. Once again we invite you to participate in the Global FlyFisher Summit, which as usual will take place in September in Denmark. The list of participants is already filling up, so read more about the arrangement here and sign up ASAP.

Ready to release - Danish jari Wiklund is ready to release a Summit sea trout
Choppy water - American/German Paul Kalbrenner in the surf
Autumn fish - GFF partner Martin Joergensen with a colored sea trout
Autumn smile - German Kai Nolting with a borad smile and a nice fish
A good reason to be happy - German/American Paul Kalbrenner carefully cradles a Danish sea trout
First sea trout - Lithuanian Rolandas Mincinauskas with his first sea trout
As nice as they come - Vanuz with a well deserved, bright sea trout
Kai Nolting - Martin Joergensen - Fredrik Odelberg - Rolandas Mincinauskas - Hans Jacob Schou

I have started the preparations for the Global FlyFisher Summit 2008, and already invited the previous participants through a private mail. I decided to put them first in line for the gathering this year.

But the line is now open for everybody. The number of participants will be limited to 40, and as you can see there's good number signed up already. We were about 35 last year, and I don't want this to grow much larger.

This is the plan:
- Date/time: the weekend September 12th-14th, late Friday to late Sunday. Fishing Friday is also possible.
- Fishing: mainly coastal, we have access to lots of good water like the previous years, but there are many options - also lakes and streams.
- Acommodation: Odense Danhostel as last year, two nights, 8-bed rooms (or double/single rooms at a surcharge, see below).
- Catering: breakfast Saturday and Sunday, lunch packs Saturday and Sunday, "modest" dinner Friday, full dinner with wine and coffee Saturday.
- Transport: not included. You arrange this yourself. Sharing cars is very possible - and recommended.

I have added a dinner at the hostel Friday night so that we won't have to hunt the city for a place that can take 40 guests.

The price will be about 120 Euros for the standard package - a smaller room will run you about 20/30 (double/single) Euros more per night.
Payment will be done through PayPal or bank transfer to my bank account. There will be NO cash payment on arrival. I have to pay the hostel in advance, and will not put up such a large sum of money with no guarantee of reimbursement. When payment is due, I will mail the payment details to the people who sign up.

The deadline has passed, and the list of participants for the event has been closed.

You can discuss the event in the Summit-forum.
Below you see a list of the people commited to participate.

Arm's depot - Ready to rock and roll!
Meeting before fishing - Gathering in the yard of the hostel to make plans
Group shot - All participants at the GFF Summit 2007
As nice as they come - A beautiful Danish sea trout
Martin Joergensen - Kai Nolting

Here are a few memories and/or appetizers from the previous years - Global FlyFisher Summit 2006 and 2007.

And you can read more about this year's Summit in the blog.

And discuss and plan fishing, driving etc. in this forum made for the purpose.

I don't know whether I... eh, Vanuz will have T-shirts made this year. Might happen. Other ideas for freebies etc. just let me know.

Hi all,

I have posted a potential T-Shirt design in the forum page for the Summit 2008 (page 2) - just in case we have one made!

It was designed in MS Paint so it's about as basic as it gets, but I think you'll get the idea!

See you at the summit.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
