Bead Head Prince Nymph

Check out the Bead Head Prince Nymph in action in Mike's Patuxent River Video - https://youtu.be/9G_3WqEVH7o

The Prince Nymph as we know it today has a long and storied history. The fly we know as the Prince Nymph was created back in the 1930’s by angler brothers Don and Dick Olsen from Bemidji, MN. Their series of flies was called the Forked Tail series and included several flies including the Brown Forked Tail we recognize today as the Prince Nymph. As the story goes, Doug Prince of Monterey, CA found success with the fly pattern in the 1940’s and passed along the fly to Buz Buszek. A catalog was created after this by Bus and the pattern was included. Not remembering what the pattern was called, it was attributed to Doug Prince and it would seem this has been passed along over the years.

Darren ties one of fly fishing's most popular and most productive subsurface patterns for trout, the Beadhead Prince Nymph! There are many variations of the Prince Nymph. Some of the more popular variants include Prince of Darkness, King Prince, Queen Prince, Hotwire Prince, and Psycho Prince.

Since you got this far …

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
