Two-Tone Flesh Fly

Hey Thread Heads, I've been tying this pattern for clients for over a decade now in about 15 different color combinations including solids monotone colors as well as the Hareline Rabbit Flesh Strips.

On the subject of weighting the fly, this is completely an optional step. Many Flesh flies are tied unweighted and split shot is used to help get the fly to depth. You can tie the fly weighted, as I have here, and you may want to use 2 or 3 different weights to help find depth. If you go this route, I suggest using a system of heads which will quickly indicate how heavy the fly is. Use a dark band of thread on the head to indicate the heaviest. Use lighter bands for lighter weighted flies and no bands for unweighted fly flies.

The smaller sizes of the fly are great for fishing trout in the late season. You could even try out this pattern in different scenarios for pike and bass, fishing the fly as a baitfish.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
