Here we will be tying the salmon fly Krafla by Kristján Gíslason. The collection Kristján designed is widely known in Iceland among Icelandic anglers and some look at Kristján as a legend. I can agree on that, Kristján was amazing. The fly is a great option for stream fishing and had proved itself in most conditions. We are proud to post this video since it's one of Icelands most known flies. The fly maybe tied as a trout fly as well on a single hook with a bead. Great fly and a little challenge to tie, but always fun and satisfying when you have good Krafla results.
Pattern
Author: Kristján Gíslason.
Hook: Ahrex HR428 #6
Thread: 8/0 Neon orange.
Tail: 4-5 stems of cock feather (or Peccar boar)
Butt: Orange rooster like body.
Rib: Oval silver.
Body: 3 orange cock feathers, 2white cock feathers.
Head: ⅔ neon orange and rest black as shown in video.
